In fairness to Kane, where is the win for him?
If he had the conversation with Levy last season what does he do?.
Does he work his arse off, win the golden boot and the highest assist record in the league ultimately making himself unbuyable, or does he sit on his hands, do fuck all and hurt his image, his legacy and his England squad chances?

He can't really win either way here.
And I don't buy into the theory he signed a 6 year deal so tough. A LOT has happened since he signed that deal and most of it has been bad.
Agree we are probably worse now than we were back then.

The point is that he should have signed a 3 year deal and retain all the power. He instead signed for 6. Stupid decision and entirely his fault.

He was probably ONLY offered the 6 year deal. He likely had 2 options sign it or not have a new contract. Let's be serious here, if he hadn't signed that contract in 2018 he would have been sold then. The 6 years benefits us and only us.

A contract is pretty straight forward, You agree to play for so many years and you get £xm pa to play.

What's difficult to understand ?

No club EVER promises a player they will be successful.

On this logic a player would always serve the contract then leave for free. Transfer fees would be irrelevant. Maybe this should happen. But then players who aren't playing regularly wouldn't be able to leave to get football elsewhere.

Well he shouldn't get paid if he's not training should he?

Isn't that a breach of his contract?

That's literally what I just said so I have no idea why you seem to be disputing it.

Laporte is reportedly only on around 80 grand a week plus bonuses.

He probably doesn't want to come here but we could definitely afford his wages.

Players employ agents to negotiate on his behalf.

The deal was 6 years contract gave the maximum wages, so that's why his agent (brother Charlie ?) probably thought that was the best deal.

Anyway, the contract stands whatever you may think.

And as I say if ManCity wanted to put in a stonking offer DL would have to consider it. But the issue is ManCity clearly do not want to do that - they're prepared to offer £100m for Grealish but not bid for Kane.

Hence Kane stays.

I ask again what is dificult to understand ?

The stance is "business as usual".....

(Ironically) In wrestling talk they call it 'not selling'.

(i.e. Not giving credence to something by reacting).

They didn't react to The Sun's bullshit wedding story and they won't be reacting to this......
Surely you see the difference between random tabloid gossip and a player not turning up for training on the day he is due back?

Either all reporters have the info wrong and Spurs have given him extra holiday in which case this is a non story or he has simply not showed up for training.
If it is the former I struggle to understand why this wouldn't have filtered down to the likes of Gold and they could have put this story to bed very easily.

If it's the latter then Spurs need to come out with a strong stance on this.

So if you don;t turn up for work one day, do you expect a notice be put up around your work place saying you didn't turn up for work without permisssion ?

What advantage do you think Spurs get from commenting ?

They don't have to do it directly.

Like I said, if they gave him extra time off or he was feeling "ill" they could easily get this out via the likes of Gold and there is no story.

The advantage for Spurs would be less potentially unsettling coverage around the club and less of an amateurish appearance.

Replacing Toby's wages with Laporte is a massive upgrade. He wants to leave City. Left footed CBs are worth their weight in gold.

This won't happen, but now I'll be really upset it it doesn't.

Laporte would be the best player we could get from City but there's pretty much no reason he'd be motivated to come. None of their top players will be.

You probably have to look to the second string (Jesus, Ferran Torres) for those that would be keen on the move.
