It's not done until the club has done the bid and the player has done the medical. They didn't accept the first bid so it wasn't done

"all but done", we have no idea if we went back with a second bid and waiting on the medical. Journalists have no idea. The way this has been simmering along it smells to me that an agreement was reached but waiting on the medical.

We will never know but going on the word of reporters who tend to be just as clueless.

You've heard of Ings, were strongly linked with him, now villa have him, same with Leon Bailey. Other clubs have heard of Golini, Gil, Tomiyasu and Romero that's the point, A club like Leicester is now a decent option.
Would you really have Danny Ings lead the line for Spurs next season? Aston Villa paid £30m for a player with 1 year left of his contract and he's on £120,000 a week.
I'd personally go for a younger CF; and would rather pay, say, £55m for Vlahovic and pay £200,000 a week.
Yes, in Ings you know what you get: a reliable give-all goal scorer. But he's 29.
Leon Bailey went from being valued at around £50-60m and wanted by all the big clubs after his first season at Leverkusen (2017-18) to being or no interest for the big clubs. He's known for his attitude problem and a bit of gamble by Aston Villa. A gamble that could pay off, as Bailey - on his day - is one of the best RW.

There's gonna be a lot of souls crushed on this forum in a few weeks.

My concern is, that there is a feeling of inevitability about Kane's departure, this feels like every other time a player has downed tools and eventually we are forced to cave.
I don't like it and feel we should hold firm at all costs.

However, I can see it happening towards the back end of the window, and I'm concerned we won't have the time to get the replacements in and will have to muddle through with Son as our only goalscorer.

I'm frustrated that we haven't sorted out our obvious defensive frailties yet, I think if we get Romero over the line that's a start but we also need to strengthen at right back, and we could do with a partner for Romero as I don't think any of the others cut it in the here and now. Rodon could be the player but that's a big gamble.

So I'm frustrated that Villa can just do the business efficiently. Ings will net them 15 goals next season (barring injuries) which is a great bit of business for £25m

I'd have had no beef with us signing Ings, but the point is there's plenty here that have a violent aversion to the word cheap.

Regardless of Kane; I'm confident we'll see more incoming players.

Seizing on the slightest opportunity to say 'ooh look at X' is all a bit thin....

Chavs: Still no Kounde, Haaland = fail, Lukaku still only a maybe.
United: Varane still pending.

Etc.

Lots of business to be done. I expect we may wait until near deadline day for 'cheaper prices'

Ultimately it means the first 3 games of the season in particular Man City therefore become somewhat 'write offs' as it won't be the squad we want.

Here's what I'd do between now and then :
OutsIns
Sanchez - £20-25m
Carter-Vickers - £5m
Aurier - Somewhere around £10m
Sissoko - FREE (Just let him go , if we can get a fee its a bonus)
New CB - Similar fee to what you got for Sanchez
New RB (Probably Tomiyasu) - £15m
Backup ST - Depends on fee they want to spend.
We need those 3 others Ins as a minimum in addition to Romero.
If we could also sell some players like Ben Davies and Harry Winks that would help the transfer kitty.
I would like a top quality backup ST but given the lack of funds at the moment I'd be happy with a Vinicius type deal but hopefully someone a bit more capable than Vinicius.
I think bringing in another attacker would be useful too preferably a creative player. Maybe someone who can drop into midfield or play in the attack.

3 more bodies in + Romero at a minimum but I'd like another attacker/midfielder too as our depth yesterday was rather poor.

Tbh i think were right to make a late call on skipp. Looked out of depth first 60 minutes last night. A year with premier league experience with newcastle is a good call. Pleased were after damsgaard. Need 2 strikers though.
