I reckon the Aurier mutual termination is a final effort from the club to get something out of Ndombele.
Sissoko gone...Aurier gone...they were Tanguy's mates and I'm not sure they were the best influence on him. Particularly Serge.
With them gone and that clique broken up maybe Tanguy can sit up, think for himself and look in the mirror.
Theres talent for all to see in Ndombele, we just need to somehow extricate that. There must be a semblance of work ethic in him somewhere...

We're a kane injury away from being fucked. No excuses we've had all window. Bale and vinicius from last season not replaced. How anybody can look past this is beyond me. I trust nuno but he's been left short. Be interesting to see what those that think we've had a great window think if kane was to get injured. Once again everybody hoping kane doesn't get hurt and running him into the ground. Funny thing is I think if we had given nuno the tools I think we would piss top 4 now I think we'll need luck on injuries to make it.

Well, it was a shitty window as always... Way too much time used by Levy on being cheap, amounting to nothing. Gutted that we didn't sign a star midfielder and a second striker.

Skipp is too slow and insecure in the number 6 position. He is fine at helping out the defence, being the intermediary between defence and midfield, but he doesn't create anything going forward, e.g. lack of killer passes and lack of moving the ball forward fast in counter-attacks.
I don't know if Moriba would have been the answer, as I don't know much about him (other than his attributes in Football Manager), but Neves would have been excellent in that position.
Naturally, I don't know why we didn't end up with any of these, but, as far as I understand, there have been rumours that it wass due to us not being able to shift players like Winks and Ndombele. If that's the case, then that's bullshit. If we want CL then we got to gamble a bit - just sign the star midfielder, and let Ndombele and Winks rot on the reserves until they agree to terminate their contracts or accept incoming bids.

I'm not surprised Kane wanted to leave - it's a fucking shit show in the board room.

Speaking of which, we also only have one striker in the team... and a youngster. What on earth were they thinking? When Kane's mid-season injury appears, we're fucked. On top of that, Kane is definitely not going to be very motivated this season as he definitely wanted to leave. He might say he will give 100 percent, but unless we keep our form going (which I highly doubt), he will subconsciously not be at 100 percent.

Of course, we still got some good signings in Romero, Gil and Emerson. Our squad depth is, on paper, not bad, but when you look at the midfield and see that two of our five central midfielders are Winks and Ndombele, you realise that the depth is just a lie.

Based on what. Sissoko was a poor footballer but there appeared to be no malice in him. Serge always seemed happy. I think you’re clutching a bit there… hope I’m wrong though

Always do but doesn't mean we can't help but feel disappointed and I'm sure Nuno probably feels the same. He's just happy to have the job so won't rock the boat too much, this of course suits Levy down to the ground.
I get a very different impression of him. The guy seems to thrive as the underdog, and has a very clear idea of what he can and can’t work with (hence Joe Hart interview, outgoings etc).

I agree there’s a few positions we could have firmed up, but I don’t get the impression that Nuno’s here to just take part.

Its all good that the likes of Toby,Aurier,Lamela,Aurier,Hart,Sissoko etc.. high earners who either wanted to leave or weren't good enough have left but what have we got in transfer fees for all combined. Let's not include Lamela as he was part of a swap deal. Maybe £8m?

I personally don't find it such good business when we barely recoup anything for these players. Its good they are off the wage bill and gone but I would've liked to try to hold out for a bit more money (ofc without risking the deal actually not going through)
But you don't recoup much when they are older, injury prone or have become bit part players, with a year or so on their contracts.
At least shifting them now and getting them off the wages means we don't have to do it next time. Will hopefully make things easier in the future.
