We would have a starting back line of Perisic, Davies, Dier and Romero, Spence. City would have Cucurella, Dias, Stones and Cacelo. With Walker, laporte (and others?) as backup. Our backups would Sanchez, Lenget etc.

A bit gulf there.

Their midfield of Rodri, KDB, Silva with Phillips, gundogan as backs is also slightly better.

Only our attack is better. If they sign a decent backup forward, they'll have at least as good depth as us too.

"Slightly better" pull the other one mate!

The sort of post we would rinse deluded gooners for

The important thing to remember is that Eriksen didn’t turn us down, we cooled our interest in him.

If anyone would feel hard done by, it’s Brentford
We don't know the specifics. No doubt in my mind that Conte really wanted him, Eriksen is the only player Conte has openly talked about wanting to bring to Spurs, and more than once.

I suspect we showed a serious interest, but didn't roll out the red carpet. Eriksen probably figured he'd be a leading player at United and a bit part player for us. He's also complained a bit in the past about playstyle, Ten hag suits him more than Conte.

Also, all his talk of "ambition" rings a bit hollow if he does go to United. Fair enough if he's decided he's had enough of that after his heart attack.

Depends on what you want from your midfield I guess. As a creative force they're miles ahead, but as a defensive force I'd take Bissouma, PEH over two of Rodri and KDB/Silva. I suppose they could play Rodri, Phillips and that would be pretty comparable... probably better.

Conte didn't want him.

Now shush

Any chance that we didn't make a move because Levy was too proud to welcome him back because of the way he left? Or was it purely down to Conte and Paratici?
His wages played into it and Conte probably didn’t want him. We don’t need a “creative” midfielder considering we are going to play a 343. Kulu and Kane would be way more creative.

We'd get him for cheaper than what we are selling Bergwijn for, and just like Richarlison, he'd come with the mentality that he's better than our forwards and try to convince Conte so as well.
He doesn't seem to have the right attitude tbh. After a hot streak at Barca he's gone missing for a long time. He'll likely be 5th choice in attack and cause a stink.

IMO, the 5th slot should go to a young prospect, find a championship gem. Our youth players are just a bit too young for that role.

I’ve never been a big fan of Depay. He doesn’t seem like the type to think that. He went to Barca because he knew he would start. Not that he thought it would be more competitive. He would have stayed at United if that was the case.

He’s not wrong. Eriksen world class argument hasn’t been around since 2016/2017.

I’m not disappointed in Eriksen not choosing to stay at Brentford. I’m disappointed in myself for thinking Eriksen almost dying knocked some sense into the greedy idiots head.
Calm down. Call him greedy if you must (I disagree) but there's no need to bring the heart attack into it,
