Transfers Summer 2022 Transfer Thread.

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

Sure, but it's still a bit disappointing that we're two injuries away from last season's starting 11. The early buzz of Bissouma and Perisic didn't quite lead to other transfers of that calibre in the rest of the window.

It's a good window but not especially out of the ordinary for a top club.
Yep I'm fairly content as is but it has hardly been a blockbuster statement of intent.

We got business done early for a change which is great but yeah we have only definitively upgraded LWB and CM.

Before the window you would have hoped for upgrades at CB and RWB as well.

Would we not be obligated to pay off their remaining contract?
How does that work?

If you terminate their contracts all you're doing is paying out their salary in a lump sum.

Also paying off contracts just because the club might not see them as assets is bad business, one man's trash and all that...
I could be mistaken but if I recall did we not reach an agreement with Serge to terminate his contract so he could go anywhere he chose? We could do that again

Last PL matches before the world cup on 12 November (just over 3 months from start of season) and PL matches resume on Boxing Day 24 December (WC final itself is on 18 December - so any players going deep in WC is going to arrive back without any real break, those not going to WC should arrive back pretty rested.

The 6 week break will be an interesting new transfer window - signing players on international duty could be difficult but signing any players not going should be relatively easy.
Sorry, is there a TW on whilst the WC is on?
Or do you mean teams will use it to line up their deals for Jan?

You'd presume wrong then...

All players contracted to the club are available until the end of August, only once the TW Slams Shut™ do clubs register their official 25 man squad.

There might be a match day squad that has to be sent off to the PL or something prior to a game, but anybody from the pool of players can be named in that until September.
Obviously know we can change it - but pretty sure in previous years we’ve put our squad out before the first game online.

So we have signed six players this window and 2 in last January window which all of them are more than likely gonna improve our squad and fans on this forum are not at all happy with our transfer window and saying we need more players. Do we not know anything called role players every squad has and need them this is just ridiculous

We're building a team here fellas! Not an eleven that will never need rotation or have any injuries or knocks while playing 38 League games, at least 6+ CL games, and FA/League cups. Add another bunch of WC-games who comes in the middle of the season (which means the season will be squished into fewer weeks again) for half our players!

...And look at the tenacity of the best players we have added! Bissouma, Perisic, Richarlison: all known fighters, people who no doubt will push the rest the fuck on and give their all!

As for Forster, Llenglet, Spence I know fuck all.

This is so important. All our best teams of recent times have had that aggression. Can plot a graph of it.

Got to agree to a large extent.

I think we are stronger but always the acid test is yet to come.

My view is we are one player light in midfield from being in the mix but we have the quality and depth to at least match last season.

It’s not a question of liking him but most of us think that he hasn’t been given a fair chance but down to Conte at the end of the day

No player will be "given a fair chance". Every player has to earn one.

That's what they do on the training field every day. He could not. so he is moved on.

Laughable to state that Conte would even have time to plot against someone or intentionally screwing one over.

Truth is - he is just not good enough.

That club is an outlier. Reported

Probably pointing out the complete obvious here, but surely with Rodon gone and Tanganga on the verge, I'd like to think we're gonna be in for another defender.

I feel like we can't bring anyone else in, especially midfielder/attacking midfielder wise until we get rid of a few which is why I think it's gone quiet on the incomings.

Tbf City/Liverpool don’t need big windows, they’re at a point where 1 top player as the cherry on top of the cake is fine. Chelsea have had a disappointing window by their standards.

Woolwich’s has been OK considering they only managed Europa League. Ours has clearly been good but arguably overhyped early in terms of improving the XI.

Why is it overhyped in terms of improving first XI ?

If fully fit, Perisic and Bissouma are absolutely nailed on starters. Last season we did not have capable attacking RWB in our books, and we got one. So it could well be that Spence plays into starting XI as well over the course of the season.

Additionally players like Skipp and Doherty had significant injuries. With them being back + additions that are not straight into starting XI will improve the options to rest players. Which will improve their pertofmane levels = improve the first XI.

So let's name things with right names - some inpatient lads are just whining because it has been few days from the last signing and they want new shiny toys.

Life is not a footie manager where you buy new starting XI with one window. To have 1 player from last summer (Romero), 2 from winter window (Kulu and Benta) and 2 from this summer (Perisic and Bissouma) means that within 14 months we have improved 45% of starting XI .. In a situation where at least 2 players in the team are untouchable and we would not get improvements from anywhere for any sort of money (so basically we have upgraded 55% of "mortals") - it is fairly impressive.
