Pretty sure We played 343 for a season with Poch - dier toby and Jan as cbs and Ben played more than rose at lwb.
During the last season at the lane we played a mix of 4-2-3-1 and 3-4-3 with Dier dropping into the backline and Ben and Walker/Trippier pushing up the pitch.
It was Walker and Rose to start but Rose got hurt around November-December and missed the rest of the season or something like that.
This thread seems to have given up on bringing in that last major statement signing of the window.

IMO Tanganga is inadequate cover for the CB positions on account of both his current ability and his injury record. The only reason I'm concerned over news about his potential departure is that there is no corresponding news for a potential replacement. We're kidding ourselves if we think we can get through the season without turning to a 6th centre back.
I have a feeling that nothing else is going to happen in this window. The club isn't stupid enough to ignore Conte's instruction not to sell inadequate squad players without replacing them and there are no links for replacements.
If Reggillon, Tanganga, Gil and Winks end up going on loan too this window, that means that including the youngsters (Parrott/Scarlett & Udogie) we'll have the best part of an entire XI out on loan!

Reggillon probably will go somewhere, but with Rodon already out, unless he has a CB lined up, I just can't see him letting Tanganga go... and likewise with Gil back to Spain... unless an AM (Traore???) is already lined up??

Not when we played against Huddersfield which is what I was replying to.
And like I said Conte's wing backs play different to most other coaches, they're expected to create chances and finish, that isn't Ben Davies....
He played in a 343 plenty of times. To says that's not a WB is splitting hairs.
Do you think he can do a job as a WB in Conte's system?

In an emergency as 3rd/4th string; yes he can do a job. He proved a capable deputy to Rose in the past and is a welcome option.
If you followed the conversation it was about being a LWB for Conte not a LWB in general...
I'd say he could do an equal sort of job to Emerson just on the other flank.
Sure he's better at LCB, but we only need an injury to Sess or Perisic, and we're in LWB trouble with two matches per week.
I'd prefer to see Davies than Doherty there, but that's just an opinion.
That's not the level we should be aspiring to.

One week to go and a lot going on. Lots of players being linked and a few more that have not made the media. I'd ignore all the "spurs are interested" headlines right now no matter where they are from, as we have put the feelers out for a lot of players. Especially home grown ones, agents, selling clubs, even people at the club are jumping on them and blowing them out of proportion. If FP likes a player, we've enquired, if AC likes a player we've enquired, if they are being put forward by their agent or one of our scouts and we think they are decent we've enquired, etc etc etc. Zaha, enquiry..... Dan James, enquiry..... Ziyech, enquiry.... Madison, enquiry..... I think you get the point, just because we've asked the question re their availability it certainly doesn't mean we are looking to sign them, because AC doesn't actually want any of them. It costs nothing to ask the question, and knowing the situation allows things to change quickly to best fit the jigsaw.
I have a couple of names we are looking at but even then I'm not convinced they'll go anywhere because FP has a lot of names on his list right now and besides the fact we know one of them needs to be Association trained it'll be a case of how the two we want in best fuse together, both in fit (one of the two HG at least) and also cost.
One thing I'm certain of that I can add is that we are not only looking in this country for the HG option, and have definitely had more than just enquiry contact with one player from overseas and this player has not hit the media yet.
As a closing point it's worth remembering we are not looking to sign the players you lot have watched, we will be signing the players that AC/FP have watched and evaluated. They may well be the same person but very different players.

I remember last summer when a “new itk” popped up on there, weirdly announced by their moderators and about third or fourth post from this supposed “new itk“ was a post that was a post moderating the forum. Basically they had created this “new itk” written a couple of fantasies and then forgot to log out of that account before posting. It was quickly brushed over but it was so obvious they made him up. I think it was that what lies beneath character.

I think it’s a bit of a fallacy because it happened once with VDV. The last major transfer I seem to remember doing on the last day was sissoko. Shame that went through.
