There should be no undisputed starters in any team that's serious about competing for the major titles.

More so now than ever with the 5 subs coming into play.

It's time we stopped using this as an excuse, mate

Agree from a spurs perspective. Think from a players perspective it’s still relevant, unless we can guarantee silverware or pay huge wages, this will always be a consideration of players who sign for us. The conte pull plus the general feeling around the club has maybe lessened this player expectation somewhat, however we seem to have also upped the bar re the quality of players we are trying to recruit. If you can go to any club in the world and the only differentiator is that you are guaranteed a starting spot with X, I’m guessing most players take X.

Tottenham aren’t the only ones keen to add the left-sided centre-back to their ranks this summer, with the big-money pockets of Newcastle also lurking in the background, according to TMW.

Either way, this was the insight Vickery shared on Hincapie and his recent rise into first-team stardom, for both club and country.

“This is another where I have just been delighted to have been proved wrong,” said Vickery. “He’s first-choice for Ecuador. He’s a left-sided centre-back.

“He has a nice left foot. Brings the ball out of defence very well. Making it interesting perhaps for a back three formation. If you are going to play a three, then two of those must be able to bring the ball out of defence.

“When he went into the Ecuador team a year ago, the Ecuador coach was really throwing in youth. When he threw him in I thought ‘no’. During that Copa America, he was making a howler a game.

“But if you are a centre-back, then you have to make mistakes as you develop. Subsequently, he moved already from Ecuador to Argentina and he had a good season in Argentina. He’s done very, very well in the Bundesliga as well.

“Again, I would be a little bit worried at a lack of physicality. But I have been very, very impressed by his progress. And I have learnt to trust the judgement of Alfaro, the Ecuador coach because he keeps going for youth.”

I still remember Tim raving about Paulinho when we had just signed him ......

After they sign Sterling? I have my doubts...
They're looking to blow 60/70m on Kounde, then another 20/30m on Bremer. They'll need a backup LB, and possibly a backup RB.

Then another 50/60m on Sterling, that's like 150m+ just on those positions.

They'll need a striker and to shift some of Werner, Pulisic, Ziyech. Which will be difficult with their wages.

This is why Jesus will not solve Woolwich’s issues. He is not an elite striker, he is a good attacker who for us would provide decent cover for Kulusevski, Son and Kane.

For Woolwich they will not replace Aubameyang at his best with Gabriel Jesus.

Yeah Jesus would be a good signing for us as he can play anywhere in the front 3, but him going to the scum to be their main man up top wouldn't scare me at all, he's never been a consistent goalscorer

Raphinha, very close to Woolwich Sources from Leeds United admit that they know nothing about Barça and that the player does not want to wait They hope to close the deal this week

Realistically who are we selling and how much are we getting from our sales? It’s £150m plus anything we make on sales isn’t it?

Surely we have £100m we could make if we pushed it and wanted to.

Eriksen, Perisic and Forster in on freebies and £25m down on Bissouma already makes me think we have 2 big fee signings to come.

Winks, Bergwjin, at least one of Sanchez/Rodon, Reguillon, maybe a RB and a few other peripherals around the squad. Could raise about £50-£70m at best in addition to the £150m
I've said all along though, the wording around the £150m was "to be drawn on over a year if needed"
That doesn't mean "here's £150m go and spend every single penny.
I doubt Paratici thinks that is the target. He has a list of positions to fill and will do it sensibly/

I said a few pages ago though, that I think we'll end the window having broken our transfer record. But I don't think there's gonna be, or needs to be loads of big money signings.

You're exactly right. Think he'd be a very good signing for us, giving us a really solid 7 or 8/10 cover in each of our front three positions. Physical player with good ability, will chip in with plenty goals and assists.

Very different story if we were replacing Kane.. Jesus just will not get you the numbers you need from the main man in attack, so I'll not be too put out if Woolwich sign him as their starting centre forward.
