Barella & Brozovic contributed to 18 goals between them though, that's more than we are likely to get from Bentancur/Bissouma (our expected partnership). Barella especially has a much more progressive passing range and will make those attacking runs from deep.

And he also had Eriksen in a deeper playmaker role at Inter towards the end. I'm not saying we need some lightweight #10 type, but I do think we're still lacking a player who really wants to be involved in an attacking sense.
He played 3-5-2 at inter though. We have 4 forwards contributing goals instead of 2 so the expected output from midfielders is less. If our lowest scoring forward (Kulu) gets 12 -15 goals then we only need 3-6 from midfielders to replicate Inter numbers.

And that was in a title winning side. Which we will likely not be.

The Amazon series probably did as much to distance Spurs fans as his performances.
He came across as professional but cold and aloof and perhaps a little self- centered. We’ve no idea how he behaved in the prior years when he was an integral part of our success and so we’re left with that impression which may be unfair.
Personally, I’m completely non-plussed about him coming back other than he fills a squad gap for free. In contrast, I was delighted about Bale’s return. I wouldn’t be the least surprised to see him take United’s money and spin ‘the challenge’. Though I don’t think he owes Brentford his living, I would probably think more of him if he stayed there.

True. But we're still lacking a player in midfield who gives us tactical versatility imo. Even when Conte had his 3-4-3 at Chelsea he would often bring on Fabregas (5 goals 12 assists in 16/17) to offer more creativity in the middle of the park. In big games Matic/Kante would be the go to but that option of a more intricate player was key vs sides who bus parked, and that was with a dangerous front 3 of Pedro/Costa/Hazard.

We don't have a Fabregas, Eriksen, or even a Sensi. And the aim should be at the very least to close the gap to the title winning sides, you think Conte will tolerate anything less than that ambition?

IMO, they cut service to them by winning the midfield battle. Eriksen helps a bit but Bissouma is more of the answer to that problem.

Bissouma helps win midfield battles but if teams park the bus and offer zero space for our front 3 they can struggle, we've seen that before. Conte's Chelsea had Fabregas to come in to midfield and try and answer that problem, and his Inter team had a few midfielders who would do that.

Conte can get use out of technicians if they're willing to alter their game.

This is madness for a new owner with no experience in negotiating football deals….

Big loss of knowledge about transfers from Chelsea, and there is a back log of contract extensions to deal with too.

On the other hand given Abramovitch was having to subsidise Chelsea buy about £100m pa, its easy to see why new owners don't want someone whose man selling point of the club was probably high wages for players which the club couldn't afford.

They probably also want (or need) someone knowledgeable about FFP, as its been ignored in the past, and I suspect PL (representing all others PL clubs ...... possibly excepting Man City and Newcastle) will be requiring they observe those rules as part of consent of PL to transfer the PL share to new owners. Might also be the rationale behind Buck their Chairman's departure.

Everyone getting a hard on for Raphinia, honestly how many times have you watched Leeds? I don't just mean m.o.d highlights.

Asked my daughter's b/f who has a season ticket there and his opinion.

Can be amazing, buy can also be anonymous and lazy......

£55 million hmmmm

I wouldn't be too sure if they sign Lukaku (small loan fee but high wages even if he takes a cut) and Dybala (on a free but high wages).

They'll need to sell a couple of top players to reduce their wages bill .... so likely Martinez out and probably a CB, But we shall see
their DOF have declared that it will be a sell between the CBs (who offer more for skriniar or bastoni)
lautaro martinez is not sellable

I’d love another creative player in there - would be great. I think getting the wing backs in and two ball playing centrebacks will be more important though. Our wingbacks were not very good last year which is a big deal in a Conte team.

Might be worth reminding posters we now have the 4 midfield players we are likely to have this season in Bissouma, Bentancur, Skipp and Hojbjerg.

And with a likely squad size of 23 or 24 players (ie 2 players per position and a 3rd GK), creativity is likely to come from a player who can play both a CM3 and an AM position, as its the AM/forward positions where we have gaps to fill.

Kane, Son, Kulusevski and Moura look to be staying with Bergwijn wanting out, so its likely to be a new striker and an AM in to fill those forward positions.

Why? She is brilliant in what she does. I think denying such facts is weird. And delusional on same level as other team fans overestimating their players ability. Just does not make you look serious adult if you cannot admit that competitor is doing a good job.

I specially added that it would have to suit into our setup - no not suggesting that she would replace Paratici...
She has been an integral part of a Russian Oligarch’s sportswashing machine, ethically she can get to fuck.

She does a v similar role as Paratici so no chance he would would want her knocking about, which is understandable and I think her ability is overhyped anyway. Not hard to close deals for players when you are able to overpay and tempt them with ridiculous wages.

Eriksen just doesn’t fit anywhere in a 3-4-3 though. Those 2 midfield spots need to have some physicality because they have more defensive responsibility due to wing backs. He never performed well at winger in a 4-2-3-1 because he’s not fast or strong enough to be on the outside. It MAY be different than wing in a 3-4-3 where you have overlapping wingbacks, but I’m not sold.

His best positions are #10 or the highest of 3 CMs.
Weird, I thought he was better narrow left in a 4231 than centrally as a 10. As you say, that would be even better with a LWB outside him

She is also able to sell players for far more than they're worth. I suspect Roman actually slips the buying club an extra few mil under the table, and same with the player.

City have been caught paying Mancini under the table on top of his contracted fee.

Their DoF can and will say what he likes - but Inter cannot afford the wages of the incoming Lukaku and Dybala without selling 2 high earners - Inter's wages were too high last season so these 2 signings just make a bad position worse. Particularly with debt holders demanding wage cuts and profits on sale of players.

And with 2 high earning forward coming in the logical one to go is Martinez - but it could be 2 CB's instead.

Completely agree sir. I was amazed this wasn’t unpicked in due diligence, I have no doubt that happened and they are inheriting a proper shitfest. Their amazing youth set up is only able poach all the best talent due to his financial influence

Great point. Their youth players get paid way more than ours (same again for City), and their dads/uncles get funny "scouting" jobs too.

With the supposed new limits on loaning out youth players, hopefully that will come to an end too.

Was Hercules the lad who had an argument with Jack Grealish’s brother about whether he’d sign for us or stay at Villa. And he was like ‘well my sources say it’s done so you don’t have a clue, what’s your source’

The brother was like ‘I’m literally his fucking brother…’
