It's a real shame Diaz didn't happen. IMO if we made that signing we're in the top 4 comfortably and in all likelihood go on to make it. Hopefully we return in the summer to a player of that profile. As much as it's irritating we couldn't get it over the line, I'll give credit to Paratici/the club for trying for him at least, it would've been a very good move.
came on for a minute produced a sublime piece of contol of the ball and went past their backline as if they wasnt there

livewire not too far off deki's reported fee

He has so much we lack. Flair, unpredictability, the ability to give defenders nightmares .. and I also miss having genuine pace on both flanks as we used to under Redknapp and also Pochettino through Rose & Walker.

Move on one of Lucas or Bergwijn in the summer and spend whatever it takes to get another player in that profile.

Exactly, it's soul destroying to watch Son and Kulusevski (and Kane to an extent) run out of ideas on the edge of the box when 1v1 against a defender.

When a player lines up 1v1 against a winger on the edge of the box there should be a real fear of what happens next. Is he gonna dribble and put me on my arse? Is he blow past me with strength/speed? Is he gonna cut inside and score a curler from distance? No, just a back pass, or maybe a cross...

Kulu has some guile but lacks the agility and dynamism to achieve much, and Kane scores the ocassional banger, but otherwise they're so easy to shut down.

Can we hold off on determining whether Kulu is either the second coming of Robben or another Gedson Fernandes until the end of the season at least?

As of now, his performances, like the team, have been wildly inconsistent for me, making a determination pretty impossible. He certainly looks like an upgrade on Lucas or Bergwijn but I don’t know if makes him a squad player or a starter for a team chasing Champions League.

It makes perfect sense to extend the loan unless the automatic buy options are met.

His quality makes him a starter for a team chasing a CL trophy, but it depends on the rest of the squad. Need to complement his quality with pace.

His brother passed away and days later he was playing for us. What do you mean with "didn't respect the club"?
It's something that people who don't like the player say. It has zero relationship with the truth. There's plenty to not like about his brain facts, no reason to make stuff up. Playing because we had no one else then flying to your bereaved family showed way more respect than some revered members of our squad have shown.

Going to be harder to recruit now that we won't get CL...
TOP young prospects are needed; as part of a clear-out.

+Lisandro Martinez (25M)
+Bremer (25M)
-Sanchez (20M)
-Rodon (15M)

RWB:
+Livramento (40M)
+Spence (20M)
-Emerson (15M)

LWB:
+Angelino (30M)
+Sosa (25M)
-Reguilon (20M)
-Sessegnon (15M)

CM:
+Bissouma (40M)
+Eriksen (Free)
+Kamara (Free)
-Hojbjerg (25M)
-Winks (10M)

RW:
+Brennan (20M)
-Lucas (10M)

Don't make Kuluveski permanent. Bring back Gil for LW. Sell Lo Celso and Ndombele.
Livamento got a huge injury, if we were interested we won't be now

To add to this, while there were some games in which he did a poor job of tracking back, he rarely had the kind of games Kane regularly has now, where he just ambles around the pitch at a light jog for 80 mins. Many of his mistakes were the result of overeagreness.

Aurier was a problem player, but clearly some posters are just struggling to accept we fucked up AGAIN with the RB transfer.

If you"re giving credit for almost getting him then you're falling victim to one of these classic ENIC ruses...go in late, lowball, and leak our intent as loudly as possible so our gallant failure has a veneer of ambition...I believe the good Dr Rocktopus Dr Rocktopus coined it shambition.

Actual quality shouldn't depend on anyone else nor should it be dependent on situation or circumstance. If I'm a defender and he's bearing down on me with the ball I am not afraid because this player lacks intrinsic threat. That Diaz kid looks like he might have that level of threat as do the players in front of him at Liverpool and most other clubs that are found "chasing a CL trophy".

If you have the choice of Vinicius, Rodrygo, Mane, Salah, or Kulu bearing down on your with the ball at their feet who you choosing? That's right.

Still think we should be signing Kulusevski.

He's shown enough. There's going to be 5 subs next season. We need as many options as we can get.

If we lose a winger then it probably should be Lucas. I don't think we should sell Bergwijn. He can play all across the front 3.

If anything we need to be adding to the squad. There is no point in 1 in and 1 out policy. We need to add more options.

Also, given our lack of money and the relative lack of options at WB, if we are serious about backing Conte and Kane and Son, we should absolutely be all over any veteran WBs on free transfers and/or short term contracts, even if they can only play 70 mins or so that's still way better than 70 mins of Emerson etc. Expanded subs makes this way less of an issue than it used to be.

Anyone have a free agent list? I'd be all for picking up a few even on 1 season deals.

Eriksen.

Diaz to us is very different from Diaz to Liverpool.

It does make me chuckle that people assume a player will do just as well elsewhere.

Liverpool are one thing. We at present are completely something else.

Todd Cantwell.
Gareth Bale.
Ousmane Dembele.
Angel Di Maria.
Paulo Dybala. ...
Lorenzo Insigne. ...
Franck Kessie. ...
Alexandre Lackathreat
Probably Dele
Cantwell - never lived up to his hype and was sent out on loan by struggling Norwich
Dembele - injury prone and will demand £20m in signing on fees + £250,000 a week
Di Maria - turned 34 and can't handle Conte's style
Insige - will turn 31 and has never played outside of Italy
Kessie - joining Barcelona
Lacazette - seriously?!
Dele - no way
Dybala - maybe but I am not convinced he's the type of player Spurs need. And if he is really all that why isn't Juve offering what he wants?

Insigne is also moving to the MLS at the end of the season.

As for dybala, he's a luxury player. I don't think that he would survive in a Conte team. Maybe if he was 5-6 years younger.
