Depends on who else we are looking to bring in.

We have 2 HG places empty under UEFA rules in our squad of which Spence (if he comes) takes one, so I think its sensible to assume one of the players coming in after Spence and Lenglet is HG.

So if its another CB and AM/creative CM/forward .......... not sure there's any HG CB's we will be looking at, so its likely the AM will be ? (sorry Memphis there may not be room at the inn).

I'm aware that this may be a foolish perspective. However, I have been thinking whether or not Conte may consider moving Kulusevki to AM/CAM? He is not a stranger to the position and has all the attributes to succeed there when required (low blocks). Could this move our attention away from a creative midfielder to another forward?

I think Kulusevski's role is an AM. So far at Spurs he's played more a a winger version of the AM position as he's mainly been playing in front of Royal who is a full back not used to getting into attacking positions regularly.

So Conte has got Kulusevski playing more of a winger role to compensate for the lack of forward runs from RB/RWB.

Regardless, in addition to 5 goals, Kulusevski got 8 assists in 18 games (may have been highest in PL for half a season ? Still in top couple of assist makers for a FULL season ), which I think shows where our creativity was coming from in the 2nd half of the season.

Which is why I'm relaxed about this 'creative CM' role ...... we 've covered it. Of greater interest to me is a rotation option for Kulusevski as he's not going to be able to play all circa 60 games next season. If these reports of Gordon are correct, that's a great way forward

One year loan with option to buy at 10m euros, probably low to reflect his high wages, of which Spurs will pay about 60% during loan.

Great way to 'try before you buy' an experienced French international CB who can cover LCB and CCB
.
I wonder how the salary works with regard to our option to buy.

Ie if Lenglet has an outstanding season, we could pay the fee to sign him permanently but presumably he's still on his underlying Barca contract reputed to be about 12m Euros pa.

I doubt we would pay that large a salary, so presumably we'd have to negotiate a new salary at a lower figure. Which Lenglet would have to agree to.

:contehmm:

We've got 2 HG spaces which are vacant - if Spence comes we still have one free. I'd be very happy to sign Gordon as I think we can cover left and right wing, based upon his Everton performances, and happy to put in a defensive shift which is great.

So its definitely not either Spence or Gordon - as HG players we have room for them both, and if we don't find someone like Gordon as an HG player we are simply one player short in the squad.

Not sure Gordon has played RWB - but he does seem to have a lot of the raw attributes that would enable Conte to get him to play that role, and its not that uncommon for wingers to make that move.

But I'd be happy to bring Gordon in as a forward (who may or may not be able to trained to be RWB) assuming Bergwijn is off - that gives us 6 forwards with Son, Kane, Kulusevski, Richarlison, Moura, and Gordon.

Will it happen - not sure, doubt if Everton are anxious to sell - on the other hand not sure most of their players are wanted by other clubs. So they may need to sell
It’s only one HG space for PL. Presuming Austin is 3rd keeper, Doherty is shown as HG on the PL website for last seasons squad. Sounds like Spence might be sorted shortly ...todays info from Dan K of the Standard

We are really growing a fantastic squad here with the inevitable arrivals of Lenglet and Spence shortly. Does anyone seriously think we can challenge the league? Initially i was thinking no chance, but why not? We got a fantastic manager. Building a brilliant squad to compete. We have Kane and Son. I honestly think we can challenge City and Liverpool

Let’s wait to see the team in action before we start saying things like this. It looks good on paper but so do a lot of things. Hopeful though.

seems to be wrapped up in his (reduced) wages of 7m. no separate loan fee mentioned in any press report I've seen.

Reflects Barcelona financial position and bloated squad - they need to move players on.
I was listening to Football Journos Kevin Hatchard and Andy Brassell on the Barca situation it's nuts. they've sold 10% of their tv rights for 200M and want to sell 15% more. the money is supposed to be spent over ten years but they're basically trying to spend it all now.

they're an absolute shambles.

That should be including adds-on I hope.
Last summer he was hardly worth £2-3m, and Boro wanted him out (and would have sold him for a much lower price then) but no club wanted to buy so they loaned him out instead. Forest just bought a new RB as they also didn't seem to wanna meet Boro's price.
It's rare for a player (and a defender on top of that) to increase his value by more than 10 times between the age of 21-22.
Yes, Spence apparently has lots of potential and after a few games he may prove that he's worth £20m but Spurs need RWB that's "worth" £40m+ ability-wise.
Does Boro want him back as Gibson claimed? I doubt it very much. They already have Jones as RB, so they need money to buy players for other positions. And Spence was apparently known to have a bit of an attitude problem at the club.
Anyway, let's see how Levy will handle this...

David Ornstein has just said Eriksen agrees to join Man Utd. Usually on the ball with Utd stuff.
Must have been a hard decision for him. Travelling up there on a regular basis . Pressure will be on . Very different to Brentford.

Would people be interested in Depay?

Good player, but I kinda think he revels in being the main man. Also think any further option we bring in for the front three should excel on the right, for Kulusevski rotation.
