The new contract part is especially interesting as rumour was we weren’t as keen on him as we used to be… I think second half of last season has done him the world of good.

AC Milan have held talks with Tottenham director Fabio Paratici in an attempt to bring 23-year-old defender Japhet Tanganga to the club in on a loan deal with an obligation to buy.
Japh close to a loan exit with an obligation to buy. We are arranging a buy back clause so seems like a good deal for us.
It’s a shame for Japh but he just had big injuries at the wrong time and his window of opportunity came and went. Getting a nice fee for him with a buy back option seems like the best outcome for all involved. He just isn’t going to play enough if he stayed here.

A report from 90min suggests both Antonio Conte and Jose Mourinho see Italian playmaker Nicolo Zaniolo as a player who could have a future in a wing-back role.
Despite finally adding Djed Spence to his squad, Conte is reportedly still in the market for another right-wing-back.
This comes after Emerson Royal was made available for transfer (Football.London), and Matt Doherty was reportedly told he can leave (talkSPORT).
Earlier this week it emerged that Spurs were targeting a move for AS Roma midfielder Nicolo Zaniolo (CalcioMercato.it), with a move that was initially believed to be considered a solution to Conte’s creative midfielder needs.
Zaniolo may be regarded as an attacking midfielder at present, but Conte may have other ideas. Apparently, both Conte and Mourinho actually see Zaniolo as the kind of player who could adapt to a wing-back role.
According to the report, Fabio Paratici has been in contact with the Serie A side with a view to striking a deal for the 23-year-old.
Paratici has been in Italy this week to discuss the future of various Spurs players, but talks about Zaniolo were also said to be on the agenda (Daniele Longo).

Nicolo Zaniolo is a fine player and would be a welcome addition to the Spurs squad. Primarily, he certainly fits the bill of the creative playmaker that Antonio Conte is looking for. If he can offer versatility and operate as a wing-back too, all the better.
Whether he would successfully adapt to the new role remains to be seen, but if anyone can make it work, Antonio Conte can.

What's a 'locally trained player'?
There are two categories:
1. Club-trained players – players who were on a club's books for three years between the ages of 15 and 21;
2. Association-trained players – players who were on another club's books in the same association for three years between the ages of 15 and 21. No club can have more than four association-trained players among their eight nominees on List A.
UEFA maximum squad is 25.
If my guess is correct then our UEFA squad would be : 17 non-HG, 3 association and 4 club trained = 24.
We can therefore sign one HG player.
If Winks were to stay it would be 17 + 3 + 5 =25
We would then have to sell a non-HG before buying a HG player: 16 + 4 + 5 =25.
