Tbf City/Liverpool don’t need big windows, they’re at a point where 1 top player as the cherry on top of the cake is fine. Chelsea have had a disappointing window by their standards.

Woolwich’s has been OK considering they only managed Europa League. Ours has clearly been good but arguably overhyped early in terms of improving the XI.

Maybe it has, maybe it hasn't, but Bissouma getting a knock changes nothing in the grand scheme of things; yet now it's supposedly an indicator that we haven't signed enough new starters and (ref another convo) we have depth issues at CM.

2 new starters as stands is an objective fact in the face of subjective criticism..... (In a months or so's time we might find Spence & Lenlet starting too, but that's TBC.)

So the question remains for those that are complaining or mocking... How many new starters IS acceptable?

Fair question given the comments starting to crop up here and elsewhere.

Exactly. All of them are bang average, no matter what some fanboys on here are saying. Neither is good enough for top team.
Also we started well on the market, but we are far far from 8, 9 or 10 window.
Currently we are at 6 out of 10 in my opinion.
I would have change our whole defensive line and our midfilders. We still don't have a solid CM and we are missing such player for long time. We also don't have quality winger who is very fast and can dribble great past defenders and open enemy defense. Raphinha would have been great. We need that kind of magic player.
People keep repeating Conte's Chelsea, but they had a world class Hazard and more balanced team.
Spot on!

What point....?

If Haaland & Phillips pull up injured on the eve of the season; have they had a mediocre window too?

How about the Goons w/Jesus & Zinchenko?

Chavs.... Sterling & Koulibali?

Liverpool.... Nunez and no-one?

Lol you compare our team to City’s and Liverpool’s. Should I remind you which club wants to get close to the top 2? So far we’ve added one or two players who improve our first 11. One (Biss) is probably out injured, the other (Ivan) is probably playing, but without him, we’d have the same starting 11 as last season, hence the tweet.

"Entire last season"

Well that's utter BS for starters.
Taking serious liberties with the fact Richarlison is banned for one game for using a flare too.

Not that there'd be people with an agenda to grind on Twitter dot com or anything...

People have a point too be disappointed. Don’t get me wrong, our squad is better no doubt, but with Bissouma likely to be injured, we will probably only see 1 signing Perisic start. In the small time I have seen Lenglet, I would start him over both Sanchez and Davies who are both not good enough for where we want too be. Harsh on Davies maybe, but i still don’t think he starts in any of the top 6 defences. Doherty another disappointment that he’s probably going to be 1st choice unless Spence gets off to a flyer. Doherty is a good squad player, but like Davies he isn’t good enough for where we want to be. I got a horrible feeling we will see Sanchez start Saturday 🤦‍♂️

I think people were expecting about 4 new guaranteed starters coming in. A RWB, CM, LWB & CB.

Whether that was a fair expectation or not is a different question.

You can't really improve on Lloris, Romero, Kane, Son and Kulusevski (maybe Richarlison). I think we did improve on midfield and LWB. Possibly LCB as well. That leaves Dier, RWB and one midfield spot that could have been improved on and only obvious one that we will regret is RWB imo.

I haven’t got as excited as others about the window. I think we have boosted the squad but I really want to see Richarlison get off the mark asap or it will become “a thing” to beat him with. Perisic too needs a good start or else people will question his age.

The LCB and RWB failures are the ones that really have been poor. Hopefully lenglet does well. He has looked good in the friendlies. But RWB will continue to be a problem this season.

I wouldn’t mind another young exciting attacker as I’m not convinced by Lucas any more. Plenty of time left yet of course. But I doubt much will chance before we sell a few.
