Well, yeah, though not yet clear if they get De Jong obviously. Think there's kind of a collective reckoning that Chelsea are in for a dip year. Personally think if they were to sign another good cb, midfielder and Werner replacement they'd have as much chance of pushing the top two as we do.

That's a big one for me. They're linked to some great players and Sterling is a top acquisition (I haven't seen much of Koulibaly recently so reserving judgement) but their attacking options are still underwhelming, unless Havertz goes up a notch or two.

Not really. The season could leave us anywhere from 2nd in the table to 6th. Chelsea could yet finish ahead of us comfortably if they get things right and we don't. They'll probably end the window with more quality throughout their squad than we do, but without two world class attacking players which is our trump card.
15m rising to 20m. That's a lot for an unproven youngster. But hey, Chelsea.
Let's say they don't sign 3/4 more starters after Cucurella (who's arguably depth anyway.... that's not to say he's guaranteed to sign either***).... Then what?
I'm not saying I believe them to be currently way behind us in quality stakes; but there's very much 2 sides to the 'coin' that is your take.
(***We've already seen Chavs blow deals for De Light, Raphina, Kounde & Ake.)

They'll be fine. They will still be the side who finished 3rd*, got to both domestic cup finals and lost on penalties, and were inches way from knocking out Real Madrid in the CL. They have quality running throughout the team, great depth & an elite manager.
**Minus Rudiger, Christensen & Lukaku and + Sterling, Koulibaly, Gallagher back & Cucurella. So stronger, actually .. already.

I'm convinced that it's gonna unravel at Chelsea this season, there's so many distractions there, it's really not a stable environment at all despite who they may sign or who they've been linked to.
The problem this window is that there aren't any available quality players for all the positions we wanted to strengthen. We have the money, we have the pull, but if no one's available what can you do.
For me the fact that Conte is happy with the window tells me all I need to know. It seems we did the best we could under the circumstances and Conte probably realizes that. Else he would be quite pissed. And, in any case, this was never a one-window project. It'll take a couple more to get us to challenge.
So I think we need to sit back and enjoy what is being built. The season starts in a few days and I'm expecting we'll be quite competitive, if the end of last season is anything to go by.
Yeh, you might not have noticed but I couldn't give two fucks about them being "fine". LOL

Reminder.... Cucurella is not a Chelsea player yet.... Much like De Ligt & co. weren't when you (and others granted!) last gave them an eagerly favourable, yet premature assessment.
Once again it feels like it's one set of rules for Spurs; another set of more favourable rules for our rivals.

Chelsea will sign more players. You know, I know it, the world knows it. Some deals may have fallen through but the alternatives are all top footballers. This idea they're going anywhere anytime soon is delusional folly.

I only included Cucurella as you & Doc had both already mentioned him. A big part of my point here is NOT rating them on the basis of players they don't even have under contract (something you have previous for re: De Light, Raphinia etc.)...... It's bogus to try and pin his inclusion in the discussion on me.

Time could put that to bed.. he's the kind of player who could win us a few games vs top teams this season, come up with a set-piece header in an FA cup semi final. Don't think many have an issue with him as a player, but our front three from last season is the strongest aspect of our team.
People are just getting a bit nervous in that they feel Perisic is the only clear first XI improvement we've made(to some, at this point). In 5 weeks time we could be looking at a situation where Lenglet, Bissouma, Spence and Perisic all fit into that category. Much of it is just noise from people with consistently bad opinions about football, but it's not rooted in nothing. Other teams will strengthen as well, and we just have to hope that our club gets it more right than the others do.
