Conte was "killer" clear that if one of the matchday squad, eg Gil, left then we must get a replacement in.

My reading of the situation is that Malinovskiy is a Plan B option if we don't get a top target like Zaniolo or Paqueta. Or one of the massively overpriced English wide players (Gordon, Barnes, Zaha etc).

There are strong suggestions Malinovskiy wants to come to Spurs and the Atalanta coach is happy to let him go. I don't think we have much competition at the rumoured asking price of 18m, but I also don't think we're prepared to pay that much for a 29-year-old squad depth player so will let it run into the last few days of the window.

We surely must be looking at the HG situation too if Tanganga and Winks leave. Club HG is highly unlikely (Marcus Edwards is even smaller than Gil), so it means getting in a player who is English Association trained.

Earlier in the window, I thought we might consider Club HG Kyle Walker-Peters, who is much improved. But Sessegnon exposed his lack of size for the equalizer against Soton. Also, if we were to sign KWP, we'd need to shift Emerson and/or Doherty, and it's getting late in the window for that.

Don't think there's any deal agreed... €40m bid made according to Sky. Interesting to see if it spurs any other club into action.
If spam agree a deal with Lyon for Paqueta, I'm sure we could gazzump it. The player is always going to prefer CL to Thursday night footie, Conte to Moyes, Kane & Son to M Antonio & Fornals etc etc.

Paqueta has been whoring himself out all summer and slid all the way to the spam. That’s not a player I want to sign. He also looks shit. Some of you are just so desperate. I would hate to see who you buy on FIFA and FM

Jose Mourinho wanted to sign Russia international Artem Dzyuba as a replacement for Harry Kane at Premier League giants Tottenham Hotspur, the striker’s agent Leonid Goldman tells Sport24.

With Kane ruled out for the long-term with a serious hamstring injury, Spurs went into the 2020 January transfer window desperate to bring in a new number nine.

Chelsea had no intention of allowing to Olivier Giroud join a London rival, however. Real Sociedad did not let Willian Jose go either. And Spurs ran into yet more problems when they tried to lure the colossal Dzyuba to England, with Zenit St Petersburg refusing to let their talismanic centre-forward leave midway through their title defence.

“Early January, I flew away on New Year’s Eve. Lying on the beach, (I received) a call from colleagues from the (Jorge) Mendes agency in Portugal,” explains Goldman.

Iberian super-agent Mendes, Goldman adds, was speaking on behalf of his client, the then-Spurs coach Jose Mourinho.

“(They said); ‘Kane is broken. Mourinho wants to buy a replacement – Dziuba’. I called Artem. He did not even believe at first. I said: ‘Everything is extremely serious, go talk to Zenit.’

“The club immediately made it clear that they would not let go of their leader in the middle of the season, so there was no specific documented offer. But the story of Tottenham’s interest is a billion per cent true.”

Dzyuba, of course, would have been the very definition of a short-term, quick fix. He did score 21 goals in Zenit colours that season, however. Who knows whether Dzyuba would have helped make up the six-point gap separating Tottenham from the Champions League places at the end of that season.

“When Harry Kane got injured at Tottenham, people contacted me,” Dzyuba himself told Russia24 at the time.

“Zenit said no. And that’s all. If Tottenham really wanted to sign me then I think they would have been more insistent. That said, the interest was real.”

Dzyuba, now 31, joined Turkish outfit Adana Demirspor earlier this month.
I wake each day with a song in my heart that Mourinho and his unholy Mendes hookup are no longer at my club. Rejoice and be of good cheer. Another donkey dodged.

18m is not cheap for a player they’ve openly stated is for sale… is towards 30 years of age, plays for a mid table Italian team and as we approach the last week of the window

Not relevant to the selling club but also takes another important foreign slot

If we paid anything over 10m I’d be disappointed

Put it this way …. If another PL club isn’t interested no European team is giving them more than 10m quid
think it depends what he brings to the team TBH, no reason he won't have another 3-4 years of decent football in front of him. He's not a speed merchant and unlikely to be required for 90mins every week.

I personally think £18m is a lot of money but when you look at the current cost of players it seems cheap. If we are interested I imagine we will look to drive a very hard bargain and he will either come cheap or not at all. It's on them TBH

I wouldn't go as far as stupid, but people are so dumb in how they assess him. Was unreal when that team had a target for crosses in 19/20, Jiminez injury and Jota sale has stalled his output big-time. Traore could be very effective lobbing balls in for Kane, Perisic, Richarlison. Small financial risk for a backup player.
It's true that was his best year. He created 10 big chances and had 9 assists.

But he's had 509 crosses, only created 22 big chances, and only has 14 assists (and 8 goals) in his entire Premier League career.

I don't think it's dumb to set our sights higher, even for a backup. Moura is better offensively and defensively and can backup RWB better than Traore IMO.
