once bitten and all that... I get it. Don't let it ruin the fun though

Agreed, as the late George Michael once said

“Once bitten and twice shy”

Paying customers who don’t want to pay to watch winks anymore.

I don’t want personal harm to come to him and wish him luck, but good riddance.

Winks and the club contributed to this built up animosity by not moving him on 2 years ago.

The animosity was/is unnecessarily toxic.

Lies... Personal abuse.... Scapegoating....

IRL, you'd classify it as bullying.

Maybe the new American owner will be more pragmatic than the previous owner . I can't remember it being such a big problem for players to move between the clubs prior to his tenure (and the current era of social media bollocks)?

It makes a lot of sense to have some movement with the scum, being in the same city , and given that hardly any other European clubs seem to have any money.
And what if Spurs would end up above Chelski with the help of 2 loanees from them? Do you think the Chelski supporters would support such pragmatic measures?

A small sample I know but Persic has got 2 assists this season versus Wolves (1-0 win) and Chelsea (2-2 draw), playing about 110 mins (just over one game) and arguably earned us 4 points.

Reguilon got 2 goals and 7 assists in 52 matches so a goal involvement every 5th match.

So I was really surprised you say that Perisic wasn't much of an upgrade
I never said he wasn’t an upgrade mate.

I said I hope he proves to be a better signing than Reguilon was. He’s started very well but so did Reguilon and It’ll be very interesting to see how Perisic adjusts to playing in a much more physical league at his age.

By some yes. Players like Nkoudou didn’t receive this level of abuse because he wasn’t relied upon to start and he was moved on quickly.

We had to endure Winks starting for way too long in the most important position on the pitch when it’s clear he wasn’t good enough. We probably lost the CL final because we had a ridiculous midfield of Winks and Sissoko.

I stand by my earlier opinion that the club is largely at fault for letting the winks era drag on so long. Sure, Dembele hid Winks poor performance for a while but this is one of the top clubs in the world and supposed to have some of the best minds/executives in football. The club should have seen past that and seen Winks for who he is long ago.

For all the Winks defenders, sure he was at the club a long time and from the youth system. But there are hundreds of youth players in there that we never know even existed. We don’t have room for them all and the club is not a charity.

It’s the clubs responsibility to take care of these players as best as possible but also to put out the most competitive team we realistically can. We should have moved on a long time ago and it’s unfortunate the hate that he has faced, but Winks owes the club a lot more than the club owes him, imo.

What if? I don't think prem clubs should be able to loan players to other prem clubs full stop.

Your imaginary scenario wasn't what I was advocating,

My point was purely that plenty of players have moved between the clubs in the past without it being the end of the world. This is a point of fact, not an opinion.

Firstly, Winks did far more for this team that GKN ever did.

Besides, there's was no need for much of the abuse either way... He's not the first player to 'linger' and he certainly won't be the last.

We had to endure Winks starting for way too long in the most important position on the pitch when it’s clear he wasn’t good enough.

"Endure"

Blame Wanyama's career-wrecking injury, Sissoko, Ndombele, GLC, Dembele's exit.......

Not Winks himself.

We probably lost the CL final because we had a ridiculous midfield of Winks and Sissoko.

Fuck no..... Absolutely unfair analysis.

All this does is lays the surrounding circumstances at Wink's feet...... That's frankly wrong. "If we'd have had a better MF then we'd have won the CL" is a completely flawed and unfair critique of the player himself.

Kane injury
Big players didn't show (Eriksen, Son)
Penalty cuntery.
Poch played a rotten hand pre-game too.

Winks was one of the few that actually performed ok that night.

That's a fairer critique.... But it's not justification for the toxicity poured onto Winks himself.

Ndombele & GLC were meant to rebuild our MF and arrest what subsequently became our decline..... 100m of failure. Winks was simply a player that hit his ceiling whilst a manager continued to try and force him into a position that didn't suit him(*).

(*He was never a DM and he sure as fuck wasn't Pirlo; let alone a combination of the two!)
