Harry wilson on a free is a bad idea. We aren't in multiple competitions next year. He'll just be blocking Tel/Odobert/Moore from opportunities.

We are still in transition. We aren't going to win the league next year. Now is a good time to give youngsters some sort of pathway. I'm not on about making the likes of Gray and Tel starters but they have to be in the match day squads every week and be given regular opportunities. We can't just block off every route. We need to be thinking 2/3 years ahead and not just putting everything off to try and get in the top 4
Wilson doesn't block anyone.
Odobert is injured for a long time and probably not good enough.
Moore needs another loan.
Tel is a squad option.

All 3 of them prefer LW/CAM(in the case of Moore).
Wilson is RW a position we are woefully short. He is short-term prem proven cover and is a goal threat which we don't have. Kudus remains the starter if he stays fit.

It's not about getting in the top 4 it is about building a squad capable of a strong performance in the PL. You don't bank on the future potential of Odobert/Tel/Moore without having the stable foundation first. That's how we almost got relegated.

Romero’s behaviour not only screwed us in the relegation fight meaning Danso was better when ready but also put his value down. Makes people forget he is a great player in a team playing well and on the front foot but falls apart when times are shit.

I think Van Hecke is £45-50m sounds like he only wants to play with De Zerbi thankfully.

I'm not agreeing with anything that I see as overrating Romero but otherwise agree.

On van Hecke, you would think it's just a matter of time unless one of the big guns step in, which seems unlikely.

I'd take Wilson on a free for sure.

Wilson, Senesi and Robertson are all great squad options (for free). That's sensible squad building.

Then we can spend big on the players that truly transform the team, like a CB (Van Hecke seemingly), a CM who can pass, or a CF.

This is such a tough one because our apparent transfer model has been to buy pretty big money young players. Tel, Odobert, Gray, Udogie, Vuskovic, Bergvall, Tel, plus a load of others who aren’t really in the squad anymore all bought in their teens for 150m+ combined.

For that to be a worthwhile investment strategy, you have to be laser focused on development and give them pathways to the first team, plus feel comfortable in them struggling for a bit because it is incredibly rare a young player immediately acclimates to Premier League football.

At the same time, we’ve been one spot from relegation back to back seasons and it’d be nice to have some seasoned professionals who can make you feel confident you won’t be in a relegation scrap.

It’s nice that the Lewis’s are freeing up money to inject into the club, but it’s not going to turn things around if decision making at the top and recruitment don’t improve.

It also should be matched with a long term commitment to increase the wage structure, which isn’t the one off “injection of money” shit they’ve been pulling these last few years.

People don’t like to hear it, but we’ve spent a fuck ton of money in the transfer market the last four years and we’re worse off than ever. Without some serious strategy and rethinking of things are done at the club, transfer spending is just going to be like a bad gambler chasing his losses.
