Ignoring the OP because Odobert plays on a different wing to Akliouche but have to admit that I wasn’t expecting Odobert’s data to look that good against Akliouche.

Especially because he was playing under Frank

Waiting for a player to return back to normal levels after an ACL is a dangerous game especially since his normal levels were mid.

Probably gives you a hint these data wheels aren't saying that much about how a player really has an influence on the game. Nothing beats the eye test. Data can be helpful but never are close to tell the full story.

He is seen as world class on the continent and the World Cup will reaffirm that, it's only in the Premier League where his stock has dropped but IMO he hasn't been focused due to the shit circumstances at the club, not because he's a bad player.

Regardless of that my point was that we should be aiming to do a deal with teams abroad, sell him for cheaper as opposed to Utd, a focused Romero is a dangerous one and I'd rather have the headache of seeing him playing elsewhere even if we don't' get top dollar for him.
There’s no money in La Liga or Serie A. It’s literally only the Spanish three, Bayern and PSG who can afford a 50m player. Even if United win the lot with Romero as captain (unlikely) does that really affect us currently? Just extract the maximum value for him and move on,

Yeah we need to stop acting like Romero actually plays at a high level or is available most weeks. Even if he were to reel in the aggression under De Zerbi we're at the point where he's probably guaranteed 1-2 reds a season purely off ref bias. Not to mention the injuries. And even when he's fit he's pretty crap about 25% of the time and still liable to a lapse in concentration even when he's playing well.

Very good CB at his best, but that's usually only about 40% of the available fixtures per season.

Since he arrived he's only been available for 60% of our games (all comps).

Odobert was a cheap-ish punt that (so far) hasn't worked out all. To be honest, I don't think it ever will.

We should have signed a proper Son replacement (yeah, I know that isn't easy) when it was clear his best days were behind him, and signed an Odobert/Tel type "punt" in addition.

Instead, we signed two punts (Odobert and Tel) and, surprise surprise, now we're wondering why we don't have enough quality in attack.

It's just poor squad building by Lange and co.

There is, Barca just spent £70m on Gordon for God's sake and they are looking to buy Alvarez, if they get him it means Atletico have money to spend and we all know how much simeone is a fan.

Teams on the continent plead poverty but they will stump up the money if a WC player is floating around and even then we can still enter a deal and provide a loan with obligation the following year, it's not that deep.

That’s why I said the Spanish 3 - Real, Barca and Atleti.

Anyway seems it’s moot. Manchester Evening News saying the reports are false. Will probably be Atleti in the end and the Gallagher money owed will make it an easier deal.

Carrick isn't an idiot.

He wants something more reliable than a fraudster and me, me, me player.

I agree with you, and would be hugely surprised if Romero stays in the PL, but neither would I care as long as he is gone.

Agree

Same goes for quad surgery but I guess you don’t want to hear that about Kudus because an AI bot summarized all the data points on the internet about quad surgeries in footballers to make an educated estimate

I hear it for Kudus as well, I just don't need a bot telling me a worst case scenario of him coming back in 3 years for me to have a meltdown over it.
