Yeah but the two clubs hate each other

If we signed Laporte , we could play VDV2 at LB, allowing him time to adapt to the pace of the PL.Laporte is left-footed but can play either side?
If he can play RCB as well, this makes a lot of sense.
City won't sell to us though.
I reckon we're waiting for the right moment to bid on Tosin, final year of his deal so they may end up selling him to make sure they don't lose out on a fee. The Monaco links have gone silent, reckon he wants us over them and that's why he's not gone.

We all know Verts became a better player alongside Toby, because there was better communication & cohesion at the back.
Toby was good but not elite in terms of his defensive skillset, but he was a great organiser & calming presence.
Frankly, a back 4 involving the likes of Porro, Romero, VDV2 & Udogie is sorely lacking a leader & organiser Romero would be the senior player, but he tends to play his own game regardless of what's going on around him.
Slot Laporte in there at LCB, as the organiser, with Romero to his right, and VDV2 or Udogie on the left flank, and our defence would look a lot stronger.
I mean he's played for Pep and Luis Enrique and their teams push high up the pitch, it's not all about pace, it's more about positioning and anticipation.
Same thing was said about Alderweired and Vertonghen, how many times did you see them caught out at the back and involved in a foot race trying to get back?
I think he has the same negatives in a high line asked of Lenglet.
I think Vertonghen during our peak tells us that you don't have to be rapid to successfully play in a high line
Veliiz travelling over night, and probably about 10 hours or so flying time so I guess medical on Monday ? Maybe see game on Sunday
Yeah that’s I think an underrated aspect of team building we need. In Kane, Lloris, and Son, we’ve had established international captains and worldwide figures, big voices and examples of true top class professionalism. If we can get someone like Laporte it would add much need experience and balance.
Pretty sure he said he didn't want to to come here at the beginning of the window. May have changed now but it was widely reportedLaporte was the best centre half in the division a couple of seasons ago, no brainer if it’s doable
Bobby Peru
We should be in for him. Great signing but I cannot see that price tag being ignored by other clubs.
