He absolutely tore us apart both home and away. The performance at Molineux was probably better even though he scored twice at home. FFS he scored a header from a corner lol, at around 5’8”.

Ange wants his all action midfielder I guess.

Mitoma would be a decent shout. I was hoping for 2 starting quality wingers and a 10 at the beginning of the window. Since they decided on a striker I'm pleased we went with Solanke. I'll probably be left a little disappointed with our business in the wide areas but overall I think we're doing solid deals

For the record, that's pretty much what I was hoping for - two starting wide forwards and a creative 8 type.

Joao would be the Gallagher/Sarr profile probably not the 6. I don’t think he quite has the passing or goal threat though, he basically just runs and battles like a man possessed for 90 minutes and that’s his main quality. I don’t know why Ange seems to think that passing ability is something we need less of in midfield. Every manager we’ve had since, ironically, Redknapp of all people, has had a fetish for ball carriers in midfield. The game has always been about passing, it’s the fundamental skill of 11v11 football at the end of the day.

yeah tbh there was 3/4 pages unread, I wasn't arsed reading through to check if it was posted.
Tbh that's something Admin Admin could maybe put on their to-do list, automated warning "are you sure you want to post this link, has already been posted in this thread in the last 48 hours"

Joao Gomes would cost too much. I can't see us spending another 50m+ this window. I feel like the CM will come from outside the PL.

Well, I wouldn’t have bought Kulusevski and Johnson for a start (or Solomon) and I definitely wouldn’t have brought Werner back for another year.

But you still don’t say “we’ve already got some meh/flawed players so we better not sign better ones.

Moore is a free hit squad wise, as he’s u21 and HG/club trained. Even so, I’d still be tempted to send him abroad to play games most weeks and develop. Unless he’s going to get lots of minutes here.
Right, but at this point in time, which wingers would you leave out of the Europa squad to make way for the new acquisitions?

You watch a lot of youth/u21 football, had you seen much of Odobert?

Odobert spent last season playing PL football (not youth football) with Burnley, and season before spent at Troyes (the in French top league) playing for their first team (not youth football)

So the 2 last seasons playing first team football in PL or French top league making over 60 appearances (90% starts) over those 2 seasons.

Why ask about Odobert playing youth/u21 football which he played 2 or 3 years ago ?

Why not ask about him playing in PL or French top league ?

I feel like we’ve got a good experienced spine - Vicario, Romero, Davies, Bissouma, Maddison, Son, Solanke. Those guys are all a good age and have a tonne of PL experience. Would be delighted with one more experienced signing to top it pff though.

Definitely wouldn't say no to more experience in the team, but you rightly say we have some already and when I look at a team like Woolwich and their title challenges the last couple of years, they weren't really relying on many experienced players.

2022/23 they had

Saka -20
Martinelli - 21
Saliba - 21
Odegaard - 23
Ramsdale - 24
Jesus - 25

Granted they also had

Xhaka, Partey and Jorghino but the later two weren't regular starters.

I guess they didn't win anything but they certainly were capable.

Can't remember who posted on here but someone said he was basically part of the City Group and sold him to Burnley as a favour to Kompany
