Declan Rice for one. We are crying out for a top quality number 6, DM player yet when one of the best around was up for grabs, we show no interest. We’ve brought in enough youngsters with potential, we need to be mixing that up with top quality, established players if we really are serious about competing with the big boys
I agree, the above are excellent players but most have still got a lot to learn & improve on, but I’ve no doubt that will happen. Players like Richarlison, Johnson, Kulusevski, Werner, Solomon, Bissouma are in my opinion, the 2nd & 3rd rate tier players that I was referring to & we will need far better quality than them to make up the gap on the top 3. The point I was making was that whenever a top player is available, we show no ambition in trying to sign them. Hopefully, that may change this summer but I won’t hold my breathRice: A very good player who went onto be one of the best in his position in the league...
Vicario
Romero
Udogie
Van der Ven
Porro
Maddison
...

You’re missing my point. None of our signings were established, top tier players when we signed them. But all of our signings aren't going to be top tier signings though, that's unrealistic.
The club you mentioned bought Rice but how many of their other signings were top tier?
Ndomble was near the top tier when we signed him, comparable to Rice. You’re missing my point. None of our signings were established, top tier players when we signed them.
The fact that some have turned out to be very good players is great news for us.
I would say the last established, top player that we signed was Klinsmann & that was before Levy’s time. We have not come close to making a signing of that magnitude since
Most of us had never heard of Ndombele before we were linked with him., he was hardly top tier. Rebrov was a decent player who did well in Ukraine, he was hardly on the same level as Klinsmann. Even if you do consider Rebrov to be on the same level, it was before Levy’s timeNdomble was near the top tier when we signed him, comparable to Rice.
Rebrov was after klinsmann.
We are now officially the richest club in London, one of the richest clubs in the world & have I believe the 3rd highest match day revenues in the world. There can be no more excuses why we are not competing with the big boys & signing the top players. We can’t just keep buying 2nd & 3rd tier quality players & expect to reach the level of the top clubs.

If you really don’t think Rice was a top tier player when Woolwich signed him, you’re just deluding yourself.Which is why I asked you your definition of established top tier players because Rice wasn't an established top tier player either going by definition, he'd never played CL football before Woolwich signed him, never got close to POTY shouts and the highest position he'd finished in with his club was 6th so I have no idea what seperates him to someone like Romero or Maddison?
2 goals & 1 assist over the past month or 6 matches.
Good player, sure, but still way too early to talk about him in the same breath as Sonny, let alone Kane.
Having a solid season under Motta at Bologna and did well at Anderlecht...but that don't make you an automatic starter at Spurs.
If we're serious about winning the league or even getting closer to City/Pool, plus maybe bagging a domestic or european cup, we need a sure(r) thing. Especially for the big money he'd cost us.
Think the kid needs (at least) another year in Serie A to prove he's the real deal. I remember that Piatek dude who everyone was raving about after he bagged a few goals for Genoa. He's not even 30 and he's now playing for superpower Basaksehir in Turkey...

There is no point. What made him a 'top tier player' and why was he different to the likes of Romero or Maddison, seeing as you're the one making the distinction, tell me what the difference was?
Most of us were not watching champions League football? If you were it's unlikely you missed ndomble. Because he turned out shit shouldn't change that it was a real show of ambitionMost of us had never heard of Ndombele before we were linked with him., he was hardly top tier. Such a stupid debate.
We all know the type of players we can't afford with our wage and transfer budget.
The richest club in London and one of the richest in the world should be able to target any player in the world.
Which is exactly the point I was making in my original post. The fact that there as some on here that don’t agree is just bizarre.Such a stupid debate.

The richest club in London who happened to spend the most money in the Jan transfer window.
Tells you that all that over spending on players and wages isn't sustainable.
