Which is exactly the point I was making in my original post. The fact that there as some on here that don’t agree is just bizarre.
When you break it down, football is quite simple, the best teams have the best players.
There can be no more excuses, if we don’t start signing the same quality of players &
as the top clubs & pay the wages that will entail, it’s because Levy hasn’t got the desire to do it, not because we can’t afford it

Ange is the most believably ambitious manager we've had imo. Jose and Conte never really believed this club was going to compete consistently. Ange says it and he really means it.

We want to win consistently to bring the football team up to the level of the stadium, we need the best players.

The 'Top London Revenue' badge alone doesn't really mean very much on a pan-European basis.... Not when there's still a significant amount of bigger wallets and bigger track-records of silverware out there to fend off.



Us managing to fend off BM for Dragusin or Barca for Ndombele isn't to be expected on a common basis.

We signed a youngster with potential who won’t join us until the summer, spent £30 on a player who has yet to start a game & Werner who is bang average at best & was warming the bench at Leipzig.
We’re nearly into March, none of these signings have improved us in any way which is what we needed & what Ange wanted

Money decides where players go. That's how chavski and city managed to get a seat at the table. Not saying we need to spend like oil barons, just saying that club reputation doesn't play like you think.

Us v UTD/Chavski/ woolwich for a player will come down to one thing and one thing alone, the money offered. City is the only club in the prem that guarantees you win things and even then, Kane went to Bayern for guaranteed trophies.

We got Dragusin because we were the best offer for his career. No reason that can't be done regularly.

Werner helped plug a gap until Son came back. has a few assists, he improved the squad in fairness.

Dragusin has come off the bench and helped us win points but we needed him in the summer.

The supply of those players won't increase.

The demand has always come from a select few market makers that price other clubs out. That won't change.

What might change is the demand and price for the players in the next level down and below. That's the level we shop at.

The fans who get off their fat asses and actually buy the most expensive tickets in the world have a right to ask why we still can’t eat at the top table with (fan funded) top revenues

I agree to a point but if we’d have shown a bit more ambition than Werner, we could have signed a player that would have chipped in with a few goals & put in some better performances which might have made all the difference to our top 4 chances.
People were saying that Werner was a no risk signing but I would argue it was the opposite.

Agree in principle. Not sure who else was out there to get.

We had an almost closed market and from what we saw reported, we never really tested the water fro bigger fish. I still don't hate that January window.

The summer will be the real test again. Last summer was decent but we still left it short at CB and got punished for it. Let's just hope we learn from that this time.

We are more appealing perhaps than we once were; but for pretty much the entire EPL era?

.............All things monetarily equal why did Hazard (eg) not end up here?

Why you ring-fencing this to be an EPL phenomena? ..........It's a pan-European matter.

ALL the clubs I previously mentioned will be deemed more viable routes to silverware (be that based on current or legacy criteria) than us.

I don't know if you have some crystal ball or have some exclusive insight into football trading but this is genrally how trading markets work, it's actually pretty simple...if there's less money going around in the market then the value of assets drop considerably.
