Plenty of doubts about Spence at the time. The fact all that lot have been moved on or we'd like to move them on says it all. Just patching up the squad like we have with Werner. All they do is clutter up the squad and block pathways for our own youngsters. Buy first team level players or dont bother.
The good thing with the Werner loan is he won't clutter the squad if we don't want him at the end of the season.

Obviously Ange did want to see more of him, but we shouldn't end up in a position like we are in with Ndombele, Gil, Lo Celso and many more previously where we simply can't shift them.

The getting rid of him part is already dealt with. No 3-5 years of salary obligations. If it were allowed, having players on 1 year contracts with exponential optional extensions would justify paying much higher wages.

Hi Honest John Honest John hope you're doing well fella.

As this is the transfer window, and you have strong opinions on our transfer business, can you elaborate on who you think the club should sign this summer to improve the first team? Genuinely interested in your expert views.

Cheers mate :)

I don't claim to have expert views. I just go by the evidence of the past 47 ENIC transfer windows that yielded 1 league cup .

I'll rate each signing as we make it, and give my overall verdict at the end, if that's OK?....Fella?

Which usually turns out to be spot on 😆

One signing so far. Werner....

Uncle John's verdict : Cheap opportunistic punt that wouldn't have been entertained by any other Big 6 Club or any club that's serious about winning.

Thanks John.

So no suggestions of your own to make then on who the club could/should sign that would satisfy you that the club is 'serious about winning'?

No worries matey, just thought I'd ask.

Your welcome. Any time.

Like I said, I'm no expert, unlike yourself, perhaps.
I don't spend endless hours watching various matches from distant leagues around Europe.

My football passion is limited to and exclusively Spurs.

When we're strongly linked with a player, I'll research his credentials, but that's about as far as my non Spurs interest goes.

Sorry if that disappoints you, my friend :angehug:

Out of interest though.....Do you think ENIC are serious about winning? Rather than purely financial

If so, why do you think they consistently fail so miserably?

Not being funny, but I'm always open to hearing alternative views. Maybe I've been missing something so please, go for it.....

Yes, he is an upgrade.

But also 3 years older and more experienced.
I do believe that in few years time they could be roughly equal, if Sarr not better.

And then there is question - is that upgrade worth 50 mil fee + high salaries ?!
I have little doubt Gallagher would want 120 kpw minimal. Sarr is on 70 kpw. So roughly speaking, across 3 years we have paid 60 mil more for temporary upgrade.

I'd really look elsewhere, unless there is some bigger plan here (converting Gallagher to starting #6 for example).
I don't think Gallagher is at all the upgrade some think on Sarr. I have said this before but I've become completely convinced of it, having looked at a deep dive on our centerbacks. Systems make players, what "Angeball" is asking of his hybrid 6/8's his centerbacks and inverted fullbacks I honestly believe is making them on occasion look poorer than they are. When it works and all first eleven players are fit great it can be devastating, but I genuinely fear Gallagher asked to do what Sarr has been forced to, fairs even worse .

It's why a list of the leagues best centerbacks features VDV and Romero but we concededthe same amount of goals as Fulham in 13th and ten more than Everton in 15th. 50 million pounds (to Chelsea!!) to find out the system exposes Gallagher and limits him in just the same way is a bonkers risk. But my honest feeling is that's exactly what will happen. I think we have a real structural issue beyond who we buy.

I’ll make an assessment over the summer and get back to you at the end of the transfer window if that’s ok

👍🏾

OK so you actually think its a cheap punt and not an expensive one in terms of wages that will affect our other business as others have pointed out?

Weve pretty much been linked with a player from every one of those clubs bar Newcastle over the last few months anyway.

Chalobah and Gallagher from Chelsea
Ramsey from Aston Villa
Onana from Everton
Murillo, Gibbs-White and Hudson Odoi from Forest
Dewsbury-Hall from Leicester
