We have four with Davies plus we have Dorrington and Phillips if they don't go out on loan.

Even though it's a loan, it's with an obligation, not an option, totalling 37.5m plus a potential extra 3m in add-ons.

The financials aren't even the main issue. We are struggling with squad space for Europa league registration as it is, so would have to sell Davies to bring another in, as he can't play LB anymore IMO, so another LB is the priority in defence.
Davies is HG though (but not club trained)

Davids would be a good versatile signing for us. If we sign him for the reported 20m I don’t see why we couldn’t also sign Chiesa for 25m and really bolster our attack.

Obviously bigger signings would be nice but for 45m plus wages it would seem like decent value.

IF richarlson leaves, which I don't think is gonna happen, think Gyokeres has a release clause.. that won't be a million miles away from what we get for richi the Saudi's..? and tbh think he'll be a bloody good fit.
It will be another 35M so material amount but well worth a gamble - we’ve free’d up more than 35M in annual cost reduction of wages in the last 12 months so absolutely no reason not to pay it

The full quote sounds like a long winded way of saying "I don't know".

"So while the links between Tottenham and the versatile Chiesa have been strong and widespread in his homeland, those in and around Spurs have been left non-plussed by the stories with football.london understanding that the player is not believed to be one of Postecoglou's original targets and therefore there is no truth to the current reports.

The actual targets appear to lie elsewhere and if they were to eventually turn to someone like Chiesa before the window ends then it would only suggest that Tottenham would no longer be in what Postecoglou deemed as "that phase where what we identified is still what we're after."

We were expecting this poo pooing weren’t we?

:ange-hands-head:
Yeah, it was obvious when Postecoglou said we were still after our initial targets. IMO i reckon its Eze, Neto and Gallagher. They're the names that have been knocking around for months. Only other possible i could think of is Raphinha instead of Neto as Barca wont want to sell until they have signed Williams which might explain the delays. Maybe Ramsey as a contingency if Gallagher doesnt happen. I hope i'm wrong on a couple of those. I reckon we only move for a CF if and when we sell Richarlison.

This guy is a fraud. I value his opinion the same as a random bloke down the pub.

I watched a couple of his "analysis" videos on YouTube last year and noticed in the comments from fans, of the clubs that the player or manager the videos were about, were always saying he was wrong about several things, so I watched a few of his videos on players (and Slot) that I had watched quite a bit already and quickly realised that he was basing his "analysis" from highlights videos.

I remember at the he start of his video on Arnie Slot, he started by saying he was an authority on the Eredivisie because he had done a 60 minute presentation on it a few weeks before, then on another video he did after that, he casually mentioned he had only seen 5 or 6 Eredivisie games the year before. So basically, he can blag being an "expert" based on assumptions from little information.

I came to 2 conclusions:
1) He isn't a football expert or analyst, he is just a content creator/engagement farmer.
2) If the YouTube career doesn't pan out, he has a potential career in middle management.

I posted it more for the palace fans opinions, hence why I said interesting comments in the thread 👍🏻

Yeah that’s exactly what I reckon too. Once you’ve sifted through all the transfer tittle tattle bullshit, those are the names that consistently come up. The only one I doubt is Neto, just because it seems such an insane signing for us to actually follow through with given all the risks. It’s the kind of transfer that ultimately, if it goes wrong, ends up helping to cost the manager his job.

Would you rather Neto play 25 games and be injured for 25 games or have Solomon available on the bench for 50 games?
Neto's number of starts in the last 4 seasons: 18,13,5,30
So, chances are that he isn't available for even 25 games, especially considering how much more intensive Angeball is compared to anything Wolves have played. The man makes Richy and Chiesa look like rocks.

Plus what's even the point of comparison? The choice isn't between Neto and Solomon but Neto and another winger like Chiesa.

I think you missed the bit about the length of Isak’s contract.
2028-2024 are big numbers so think of it as 8-4.

I hope this helps.
No point missed. But I appreciate you're starting to see my point and understand that this whole business of players being "For Sale" is just a load of nonsense.

:angehug:

So, we both agree. The length of contract (long or short) most definitely has a bearing on the potential fee and the selling clubs bargaining power. But doesn't determine wether or not the player is or isn't "up for sale"

Hell. Players are often tied to longer contracts with the sole purpose of increasing the value of the fee in the event of a sale.

This is good. I like it when disagreements can be resolved without petty insults and fighting.

The rest of the forum should take heed.
