For those who think we dont need more players…from the horse’s mouth. We haven’t done enough.

In May this year, The Athletic researched injuries in the top flight last season and discovered Tottenham’s injured players were absent for 1,331 days. When you adjust it to the injury burden per 1,000 minutes, they were the fourth most impacted team (nine injuries per 1,000 minutes) behind Chelsea (9.4), Crystal Palace (10.0) and Manchester United(10.3).

We didn’t have a squad that was equipped to handle the rigours of a Premier League campaign, particularly when you’re trying to challenge and sustain some sort of level of intensity and competitiveness in the toughest league in the world,” Postecoglou told The Athletic earlier this month. “It wasn’t surprising. Some of that is just because it was my first year and we had a lot of injuries, which I think was just the remnants of us training the way we train and the way we do things. You’d like to think this year we are a lot better equipped to handle that side of it.”
...and that was without European football.

It doesn't bode well at this point tbh...I'd be surprised if we bettered our league position this season with Europa League games etc. as well considering that the squad hasn't really been strengthened much.

If Coman was the target and part of the plan where Ange said he wanted to wait for their first choices, why would it be the 14th of August and we are only just looking at him now?

Bayern have wanted shot of him all summer,
If the player was holding out for better offers, how would that fit with signing players who want to be here?

Coman would be a panic move for a mercenary because we couldn’t get who we wanted.
It’s all BS from all sides.

Where has Chiesa had availability or off field/personality problems?

He played around 50 games last season, so availability isn't an issue. Off field? Nothing I can see. On field? He's described as fast, talented and hard working.

If the above are questionable attributes, I'd be fascinated to know what you think are unquestionable.
Toney I was referring to as the one with off field struggles. Chiesa can't stay fit and is going to want mega wages.

Referring to Alfie and Donley. They deserve a chance to prove themselves surely.
I know who you were referring to, and can you please check your post before hitting send? It's not great to see one of our prospects referred to as Donkey.
We still have skipp who is not any better than Alfie. We go Werner for left side yet donkey could do a job there perhaps.
Perhaps? Come on man. He's not a winger, Moore is. Donley is a midfielder and we're stacked there. He's also a kid who's only experienced of "Mens" Football is preseason.
To categorically state that Skipp is not better than Devine is just wrong. He may well end up better than him, but at this point in time you simply can't make that statement without comparable performances at the same level. Skipp tore up the Championship with Norwich, Devine did well, but he only played 15 games. Far too small a sample size.
Just thinking that we should be encouraging our own academy players. BTW Moore cannot go on loan due to age. Young Will may only be kept as cover for CF due to richi crying off all the time with some sort of mysterious injuries.
We are encouraging them. Moore might not be able to go on loan, but they're putting him in the first team squad rather than keeping him in the U18' or U21 squads. As for Lankshear, who gives a shit what the reasons may be? He's being kept on merit as the highest regarded striker we have in our academy. We farmed Scarlett out on loan instead, as Lankshear is seen as better. He's impressed, so he's been given an opportunity to take his shot when he gets it.

You can't complain we aren't giving our academy prospects opportunities, then come up with excuses to complain when we do. Have a little consistency at least.

Who said he was a marquee signing Honest John Honest John ??
It's your assumption. And what's this bollocks with marquee signings anyway. More importantly is the right signing.
Hey SouthCoastSpur SouthCoastSpur if your gonna start tagging me, maybe first check the post I was initially replying to, yeah?

I'm no Levy supporter but I got to defend him here.

60m is definitely a marquee signing number. That he just takes forever to spend 60m to shave off a few quid is another discussion.

Do you think Bournemouth would have dropped 50m on Evanilson if they hadn't sold Solanke? I doubt it.

Mate...

I've literally posted that he played around 50 games last season and you say he can't stay fit?

You're not harping on about the ligament damage he previously had are you? Take a look at him last season for Juve, it's evident that he's moved on from them, maybe you should too.

His wages are easy to manage. Give him a signing on fee and keep them in line or lower than our best earners.

When the likes of fucking Bournemouth are spending 40 - 50 million on a player mate, Tottenham Hotspur spending 60 million is not a reason to start stroking off the chairman or talking of Marquee signings. Especially after banking nearly £100milion for Solanke's predecessor.
It's the absolute bare minimum a club of our immense size and wealth should be doing.
Are you pleased with the Solanke signing? Don't think I've seen your opinion on it, genuinely.

Who was front and Center of that FA Cup win may I ask - was it not Amad, Garnacho & Mainoo?
Yes the much derided ETH who put his faith in youngsters and gave them a chance. We seem to send them out on loan to get minutes. How offer does a loan work out for academy players? Bar Kane not many have gone on to make it at spurs. We know that when they come back we will have bought even more players some bang average so their path will still be blocked. The only true way of knowing if they are going to make it is to give them game time in the first team.

Moving on from one always injured target in Neto to another one never out of the physio room. We are always after a deal, there is never any fucking strategy.
Oh but there is a plan and we are sticking to it according to Ange. Hence why we are linked with every Tom dick and Harry where there is an opportunity to be taken. I thought the philosophy was that if we can’t get who we want we don’t move on to anyone who comes along?

Nobody has. It’s made up lies like most of his posts.

I think after spending big on Solanke I just can’t see it, we never make two huge marquee signings in one window to my knowledge.

How much would Eze cost? At least another £60 million, can’t see that happening. I would be shocked to be honest if it did.

:mourcry:

And I’m sure you’d have put up with Anthony being shit, Casemiro declining horribly, Martinez & Varane being injured for large amounts as they finished 8th.

That leaves Bruno, which is a 20% success rate.

Liverpool also won the league cup whilst playing their schoolboys against Chelsea…

seems to me it’s more about winning DNA, which you can’t cheat your way towards (if you’re not an oil club).

What better place to build ours than on the foundations on our successful youth teams in recent times?
But no we haven’t send them out on loan to get minutes. Yet every club in Europe and some here play 16, 17 and 18 year olds in first team. Ours are 19/20 and yet we send them out. Mainoo plays at 19 in first team then gets into England squad and team. Wharton comes from champo at 20 I think gets into CP first team and also gets into England squad. Our club does the opposite. We buy young players but send our own academy boys out who are the same age. If these lads were good enough to win the PL2 title surely they should be afforded the chance to get into first team. Their paths are now blocked not only by the younger incomings but also existing players and other transfers in. We know how this goes. I bet none of those in the winning PL2 team will make it as a spurs first teamer bcos they will never get a chance. Especially with Ange in charge. I wonder if say klopp, pep, glassner etc had some of our youngsters if they give them a chance and push and show faith in them!
