Me too. In fairness, as soon as the Werner loan was confirmed, it was a very accurate barometer of what was to come. Quite a few called it then.

It’s just going to be another season full of words like “transitional” and “project”, which I’m sick and tired of. We can’t keep having those seasons every year, time and again, but it’s the loop we are stuck in. At some point, you’ve got to actually have a finished team. But we never seem to get there. Personally, I think it’s just an excuse.

In fairness we have only ever really had one proper project during the ENIC era and that was Pochettino and we bailed on that project around the 16-18 period when we barley bought anyone and the whole thing eventually ran out of steam. Outside of that it has always been short term managers or ‘projects’ like Santini that where so shit they didn’t even get off the ground.

I have no issue with us having a project infact building one with young players is probably the only way we will succeed under the current ownership. However you actually have to see it through and support it all the way over a 5-7 year period just like other clubs like Arse and Liverpool have done.

I agree with the finished team statement. We have never had one, closest was a mostly finished first 11 under Poch. 2 good players per position for me is a complete team. We are probably 3-5 players away from that, that is essential we get to that point and reasonably quickly.

A squad player, for zero fee, who can play anywhere across the front 3, has bags of pace, and defends well, who contributed a goal/assist every 150 minutes last season.

Yeah, terrible player to have as 3 choice on the left wing.

Can tell you have never actually seen him consistently play live. He’s shocking, being paid over £100k a week and limited us bringing in better options like Chiesa. It was a shit deal. Odobert has already gone past him in the picking order. If we needed him, he was a deadline day desperation punt, not the first signing of the window.

Yeah the only time I can remember recently was the Poch season he was bought wanyama. But as usual that all went to pieces. I sometimes think it suits those that run the club to be in this ever decreasing circle.

I was about to say, unless we get reports, probably today, us being in for a player, then I suspect that will disappointingly be it.
Incredibly underwhelming and disappointing if that proves to be the case. Only a matter of time before the wheels fall off and another season peters out early.
We haven’t signed a single player of a calibre higher than we were signing before we moved into the new stadium and that was 5 years ago now!

How are Chelsea going to fit all their players into their squad. We talk about not having space. With only a couple of days of the window remaining there is little sign of outgoings and will the spares just sit at home? How are they keeping to the fair play rules?

They aren’t. They will have 15-20 players unregistered, they will lock them out of the training ground like Gallagher and tell them to find new clubs. Transfer window remains open in some other countries so they will go there or do nothing till January.

The problem for Chelsea is that they'll struggle to get market value for those sales. Transfermarkt lists the following "situational conditions" which can influence transfer price:
- Pressure situations such as competitive, success or financial pressure, etc.
- Will/desire/interests of the player
- Club does not sell to highest bidder
- Player goes on strike or similar
- High salary
- Club wants to sell player

Potentially five of those six come into play here and will get worse the longer it goes on.

He averages a goal or an assist every 120-150 minutes; and has done for the past 5 seasons. Not to mention his excellent record of a goal/assist every 100 minutes in the champions league - shows he is a big game player who doesn't shit the bed when the pressure ramps up.

Like I said, a pretty decent option to rotate with Son and Odobert.

Odd you single out Chiesa; who has never had a season as good as Werner.

Hilarious. The amount of chances he misses literally illustrates how much of the opposite he is. You haven’t watched him enough hence hiding behind the stats. Standard for tv watchers.

No idea about excuses but agree with rest.

Inconceivable to me that we sell Skipp and Hjojberg and then think bring in 2 untried and inexperieneced midfielders in an area of need, and see that as progress.

No other top club would do it. Not one.

Two squad players proven to not be good enough sold and replaced with players presumably scouted to have a good potential. Of course top clubs do that

Ange is also the first manager since Poch where it’s been clear that he’s trying to build a finished squad. It’s also clear that doing it with young players who can grow into starting roles are part of a plan for the squad to have a cycle that lasts longer than just one team.
