Mourinho's got to consider using both as 8's in a CM3 pivoting off Hojbjerg for games soon surely.

A massive amount of that depends on the players... Are either believed to be 'there' yet fitness-wise?

Apparently not.

Also, do we have the rotation options to maintain that system across the B-team? .....Dele / Winks / Sissoko appeal to you?

Whilst I agree I would like to see both playing together, my point was that Ndombele has moved ahead of Lo Celso. The problem of playing both whilst we have 2 matches a week is that if we rest both in the midweek match then we have a lack of creativity in that team. He is spreading the creative players between the 2 competitions. I doubt either player could sustain 2 x 90 min matches a week.

Alli?

Well, we have got people like Lamela, Alli to rotate into the Europa/cup as well as Winks and White etc who can rotate in as 8’s

Footballing porn when he’s on song. I’ve got everything crossed that the trajectory continues upwards because if he irons out any ongoing fitness issues (I still worry why he’s always seemingly subbed half way through second half) & continues to progress, he really is a supremely talented baller. A pleasure to watch with mind boggling ability.

*Disclaimer - this is NOT a critique of Ndombele

I was going to write a "funny" medical possibility assessment of why Ndombele is a lazy git and why that isn't his fault. But I gave up at the thought of how long it would take me to write on the phone.

Turns out I'm the lazy git.

:mourfacepalm:

Video was posted of this in that thread - mesmorising really. But I can sort of see comparisons to the way Ndombele shields the ball and the way Crosby shields the puck.

He also goes on to say that he has no doubt Ndombele COULD play 90 minutes - but over the course of the season that could potentially just damage him so we're managing his minutes, especially early on.

There is some of the same technique for sure, but the reason more footballers don't do this is that they have to control the ball with their feet at the same time. Hockey players, even though they are on skates, can control the puck with their, stick, feet, etc...

What Ndombele is able to do with his body positioning and quick bursts with the ball is an extremely underappreciated athletic feat. To the posters point, his quads are probably on fire at 60 minutes.

Also, he played 180 minutes over an 8 days period across 3 matches - that's pretty fit to me.

He should play no more than 10-15 minutes tonight. Would prefer it if he was rested and the responsibility was to be shared between Gio, Sissoko, Winks and Höjbjerg with White getting minutes for the last 15-20 minutes.

Second EL game in a row where Ndombele plays (after playing two big PL games against City and Chelsea), and once again he does a fantastic job for the team.

Interesting to notice that he played in his usual position - Lo Celso played (or tried to play) a bit behind, next to Hojbjerg.

And he really showed his quality in our second goal. LASK made a mistake and it was clear that the ball would come to Ndombele - so he had one second to think about what to do next. Goodbye. With his first touch he dribbled to the right - and then just gave the goal to Sonny.

Tanguy should be put up there with Kane & Son whenever Tottenham attack is mentioned much like Salah, Mane, Firmino. We should be calling them a trio. He's that good already. As far as I'm concerned, he's already proven himself.

For a moment I tought of the Pochettino's diamond with Hojjbjerg, Lo Celso, Sissoko and Ndombele.
