it wouldnt happen but just imagine if he did come back and actually knuckled down and worked hard, hes got the ability to actually play good quick football, his weight of pass is good, he could also bring the ball forward from deep which is sometimes required against certain setups.

the reality is tho, him coming back doesnt sound good at all for the club.

iffff somehow he could come back and play to his full potential, then thats the MF super signing we actually need.

.... hes got the ability to actually play good quick football...
Does he? I always felt his pivot and pass were very slow. Always felt like the attacking band were having to hold their runs to wait for him to move the ball on. Also, not sure he can be trusted to press forward alongside Harry and track-back defensively like Hoi and Bentancur do game-in/game-out.

In his defense, he could make a sublime pass or run once or twice per 90 (errr....70).

yea to be honest im basing it on his quality of pass. he needs to be drilled to play at a quicker tempo and move the ball on quicker and save his energy.

big ask really, just trying to see some positivity in it if it happens lol, probably trying to fool myself to be fair.

depends if hes got the actual football I.Q, if he doesnt his career will just be a streetballer in the farmers league. maybe thats all he is?

The fee isnt the problem, it's the wages.

But it is always combination of the two.

And in the end it will be down to the net impact of salary + potential transfer fee.
Let me explain.

His contract runs until 30th of June 2025. This means there is 3 seasons left.
He is on 200th £ per week or 235 th EUR. This makes 12,2 mil EUR per season.

Alternative 1 - Now let's assume that there is a club that would think that Ndombele is worth 25 mil EUR as a player and that they are willing to pay him 1/3 of the salary that we are currently paying him. It would mean yearly salary of 4 mil EUR.

Across 3 years period our "excessive salary" amount would be 3x(12,2-4)=24,6 mEUR.

Now if his value is 25 mil and our liability towards him is 24,6 mEUR it would mean that in order to ship him out, we make it even.
Most likely we might receive actual 25 mEUR from the buying club and then pay the same amount to this fat fucker to settle the contract. Now you can play around with different figures. If other assumptions remain the same, but random club thinks he might be worth 15 mil EUR, it would mean we could offload him for15-24,6= -9,6 mEUR.

Alternative 2 - we could always just pay off his whole contract. But that would mean 36,6 mEUR outlay, out of which we recap 0 EUR.

Alternative 3 - we find him loan club for the remaining 3 seasons and hope that loaning club would be willing to pay for example 50% of his wages. This now means that he stays until his contract with us is up and we have paid 18,3 mEUR as salary compensation.

As financial analyst - this post was physically painful to write.
His fee was 60 m£.
For 2,5 years we paid him full salary.
Just those costs make up 86 million pounds (!!!)

And now he is further liability with options ranging from 31,2 mil£ to ~0.
So in worst case scenario he could end up as cost item of 117,2 million £.

Sorry - but that alone was alone for not trusting Poch with a single penny of clubs money.
He fucked up to biggest possible extent (aye, this cost does not include losses made and money wasted on Lo Celso).

I understand the reasons for subsidising his wages or even paying him off, however I can’t help but feel it sends out the wrong message. Send him on loan until his contract runs out if we can’t find a buyer. Let him, and other players know they won’t be rewarded financially by being a lazy prick. Maybe he gets his act together on loan and we recoup some money (I would be surprised but stranger things have happened). I would hate if we paid him off then a club like PSG took a punt on him due to being out of contract. He shouldn’t be rewarded for his attitude and performances.

Genuinely hope we can shift this flump permanently in this window. No discipline. Has had a series of managers at Spurs, none of who could get any consistency out of him. Truly overpriced weeble. So disappointing because the talent is clear but he needs to be playing elsewhere. Probably suit an over 50’s walking football team tbh

Find someone to pay 20mil. Maybe Newcastle and if he doesn’t want the move take him out of the squad and freeze him

In an FA Cup match in January against Morecambe he lost the support of many of the club's fans, walking off the pitch at a snail's pace when substituted after 69 minutes with Spurs 1-0 down to the League One side. As they booed, so he walked even slower with other players taken off after him sprinting past him.

He did not appear in another matchday squad for Spurs and the club looked to find an exit route for him. He was kept apart in training sessions from Conte's men. Ndombele would come out with the first team on to the pitches but was not involved in tactical and game work with them and instead trained alone, with a member of the sports science staff observing him.

The term for the separate training for Ndombele was described as 'specialised conditioning treatment', but the decision was a collective one between Conte and the club as they awaited interest in him from other clubs. The only serious option that presented itself at the end of the window was a loan move back to Lyon.

On deadline day the move was completed with an option to take him back to France permanently for around £54m, with Lyon's director of football Vincent Ponsot revealing that Ndombele had asked for that option to be included.

"Tanguy gave real sporting arguments on his choice. He was quickly attached to the project and he made an effort on the contractual level," Ponsot said at the player's unveiling. "Tanguy has a salary worthy of the Premier League and he made an effort after those of the club to sign him. There were facts in front of the words. The purchase option, it was Tanguy who wanted it and the amount was negotiated at the height of our valuation of the player."

His spell back there, with one goal and two assists in 15 appearances, ended with him being unable to inspire his team to qualify for Europe next season as they finished eighth in the table.

On Thursday, reports in France made it clear that Lyon had no intention of taking the option to make his move a permanent one. It would certainly be tough to justify spending almost the same amount that Spurs signed him for in the first place.

With Conte building such a great team vibe, this last thing we need is Tanguy coming back to stink the place out. He'll probably be loaned again, but I think we should sell.

I think selling him will be virtually impossible, no team in a high level league would want to spend a fee on him. Maybe we can flog him to Turkey or the Middle East but otherwise it will probably be another loan.

The man deserves to have his contract terminated but that doesn’t make financial sense unless he agrees to a massively reduced layoff. Which he never will, because then he’d have to go back to actually working for his money.

Accidentally opened the first page of this thread. How fucking sad to think about. We were a happy tribe, back then.
