Looks like he's about to get his first managerial job at Stevenage. Good luck to him!

Also, it's quite funny that he's leaving West Ham, because he's quite highly rated there - I have some inside info... :nawty:

The new boss speaks about taking over as manager...

A little earlier today we announced the news that Teddy Sheringham will take over as manager of Stevenage FC in the summer. Speaking to the media at his first press conference, the new boss says he is thoroughly looking forward to the challenge.

“A lot of people have told me about what a lovely club it is. To say that I am excited is an understatement and I am really looking forward to next season.

“The aim is to do better than last season. I know that is a big aim but that should be the aim for the football club, whichever football club you are at.

“The chairman has said to me that I can be my own man and I am very pleased to hear that.”

Teddy says that despite going into the “unknown” somewhat; he is familiar with some of our players and watched us during the play-offs.

“I watched them in the play-offs and I have been very impressed. To get into the play-offs was a great season so the players are performing well which is a good thing to take into next season.

“I know a few of the boys, the likes of Chris Day were at Tottenham, I think Charlie Lee might have kicked me once or twice when he was coming through the ranks. I know Ronnie Henry too.

“We need to get a few in but I have started looking at that already over the last few days and I would like to get that work done as quick as we can.”

The new boss has plenty to do as he will begin to build a squad and backroom staff. Teddy says that choosing the right staff who know the league will be of utmost importance to him.

“I think that is very important. If there is one bit of advice that I have been given it is to make your backroom staff right. I won’t be rushing into it but at the same time I do need to get that sorted so I will be looking at that very closely over the next week.

“I know what to expect from a football match, there are different ways to win a football match and I am sure working for Stevenage I am going to see every different way it can be done. That is up to me to work out the best way for this club to play and produce results.”

I'd argue with Teddy about that. In his prime Sheringham was the finest forward in the league.

I agree, which is why I called it such high praise. What I wouldn't give to have Teddy in his prime playing with Kane. Very weird thought I know, just our search for a partner and/or understudy to Kane that made the thought pop in my head.

Teddy is trying to repair damage he did by saying Kane should leave for Man UTD.. He got a lot of stick from Spurs fans for that..

I found it hard to take as Teddy was one of my favourite players..

I aloud for the goon factor which appears to be seeping in but been 20yrs since I lived out Hertford way, so bow to your knowledge Sean.
Going on what I have been told, its defiantly more .A mate of mine from Stevenage, who is a Reading fan(no, I don't get it either) reckons most of theirs are spurs and lapsed spurs(as in don't go anymore).
I also lived in east Herts for a good while(Hoddesdon).Hertford is effing dear for a night out these days. Couldn't believe when I attended a 50th there last year. The pubs were London prices

I don't get this - the guy played for Millwall, Forest,Us, Manure, Pompey, Spam and Colchester
and yet he's not allowed to voice his own opinion about one of our players?

Why's that? He didn't exactly show crushing loyalty to us when he left the first time - and he has his own opinions.
