Yeah, Carsley (?) seems to be hitting his stride and confidently going with players that haven't dissapointed him in the past at youth stage. It's a real shame that this is his lot and the decision was taken as it was...when it was! It's not massively important but it's always good to beat teams who are dying to get one over on you. Plus after the home loss to Greece so many suddenly wrote England off.

Sure would have been a proud moment to have a homegrown coach lifting a trophy (I understand the Irish aspect but he was born in B'ham...that's all I'm saying). Let's hope too much shine isn't taken off if this happens.

I still think the FA have treated him like shit, even before tonight.

Will be great to see him back with the U21s for the U21 Euros this summer, so much talent coming through at the moment.I was calling for Carsley God knows how long ago, when everyone else seemed to be obsessed with us appointing Eddie Howe. I'd seen enough of him for the under 21's to know he isn't afraid to try different things which was a far cry from Southgate who always played the same players in the same way. Obviously when you try things it won't always come off, as it didn't against Greece at home, but I was always sure we would beat them away and still win the group regardless.
I don't think he ever really wanted it though. Seems more than content to go back to the under 21 role in the background where there's a lot less pressure and noise.
Yep ..bottom line it was a poor decision to play the way he set up against Greece...and truly inline with other poor decisions , the decision by the fa to seemingly on the bac of it to rapidly appoint Tuchel looked cumbersome and knee jerk . Let's hope Tuchel can use the huge squad that he now has inherited.. as for carsley. ... Tuchel ain't renowned for his longevity in his managerial career..and equally so the fa aren't the brightest...and tuchels contract is 18 months.. so I'm absolutely sure the question of Carsleys as England manager wilI was calling for Carsley God knows how long ago, when everyone else seemed to be obsessed with us appointing Eddie Howe. After those two games, against not the best opposition admittedly, I'm still no wiser what our best 11 actually is, or what Tuchel's could be. Gordon and Madueke are full of potential, but you would expect Saka to come back into the side. As I don't want to see either Foden or Palmer playing from the left, that left wing spot for me should be between Gordon and Grealish, who offer completely different things. If he finds form again you can throw Rashford into the mix too as he's always played pretty well for England, and Tuchel is apparently a big fan.
Unbelievably I think the number 10 spot is between Bellingham, Foden and Palmer. I think playing them elsewhere is just shoe-horning them in and they constantly get in each others way. If he's selected by Tuchel I would probably go with White over Livramento at right-back for the time being, as much of a twat as he is.
I thought you were 50s
Ireland played a centre half midfield to counter kane dropping deep. Kane got the space once and opened us up. Once scales was sent off there was acres to play inTBH Bill, he had a poor first half. Of the chances we did make, I can't remember seeing him in the frame, let alone the box. The ball over the top, where he looked like his boot laces were tied together, had me thinking that we needed to hook him at half time.
However, he then goes and does what World Class players do, takes the ball deep and plays a peach of a ball into Bellingham, then finishes the whole thing of clinically.
He's still capable of sublime moments, but I honestly don't think he suits the way we currently play. That may change under Tuchel, but if we're going down the high press route, I'd go with Watkins ahead of him. TBH, I'd have Solanke in there over both, but that may just be Spurs bias talking.
Clear peno. Did var even look at itThey benefited from a no-call on a Ferguson penalty...woulda been squeaky bum time otherwise. Now they are playing freely...shame.
England want to win the World Cup in two years’ time. They will not with a centre-forward who can no longer move
Not buying this crap Michael!
