If we can get 7 points from our next three games it's looking good. From there next 4 they will have to take the same points if the Derby is gonna be a decider. Even if they get 4 that should leave us with a big enough gap that anything less then a thumping win at the lane gives them to much do to with the GD swing.

Realistically I can see a draw being enough to mathematically seal it for us when we play. And them having to come and attack us would be a nightmare for them

Spurs v Brighton 12:30 Saturday

If we can get a 1-0 win v Brighton (and it's not a given-they just beat Arse away and it wasn't a lucky win) table would look this this:

Soton v Arse 15:00 Saturday

Pressure-ama for the Goons. Soton will be smarting after 0-6 v Chelsea.

They're in holiday mode.
Knowing them, they'll get an early red and lose 9-0 again

Less for Conte but he will know, the first half against Villa we were fortunate to lead let alone be 2 or 3 behind.

Buy put this in the dressing room.

For what it's worth I agree with Need in but the paradox is clear.

We are in 4th and that means we are so far better than 16 other teams, including his old club and one put together at infinitely greater cost.

But let's not make Merson defer to his article as proof of his position as opposed to giving him.grounds to eat his words.

Saturday is a massive game. Pressure on us but also a big chance.

I feel far too chill about us at the moment.....

Its making me nervous

Woolwich would have thought that it would be plain sailing for them 10 days ago.... And look how thats panned out at the moment.

A couple of games in football can change the landscape completely so I'm just hoping we win our games and Woolwich and Man U lose or draw theirs.

Interesting to see that without their win against Woolwich, Brighton would be 20th in the form table.

Need to go back through the earlier game weeks and fill in the postponed games.

That Doherty injury has got me a bit worried. Partly because he was playing to a much higher standard than Royal. Partly because it makes you realise that injuries can happen at this mate stage in the season. We don’t have the depth if anything happens to the rest of the 11. Maybe Berg/Moura for Son/Kulu can just about help us get it over the line. Think I would take 6 points from next 3 game and no more injuries over 9/9 and losing a key player

My issue with Merson (amongst other things) is that the points he's trying to make that we were somehow undeserving of the win because we 'shoulda been blown away by Villa', and that 'Hugo made loads of saves'... Well that's what top keepers DO!

When Allison or Ederson save Liverpool/Man City countless times, it's cited as 'the difference between a good team and a League title winning team'

...it's like not counting the more difficult/spectacular goals City or Liverpool score BECAUSE they scored them...
That's what world class strikers in winning teams DO!
Instead, they wank all night about their strikeforce!

Sonny scored 3 of our goals...
Lloris saved all their chances.

How are we undeserving of a win here according to Merson?
