Transfers The Summer Transfer Edging Thread 2025

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

We need to spend a fortune on our attack bringing proven wide players in who can best and man, score and press. Will transform this side but far too expensive a kind of thing for levy to even be ambitious enough to try and do.

While I won't discount the stated graph, we were provided a list of the 16 most prolific dribblers in Europe's top 7 leagues and aside from arguably Bilbao (4th in Spain) and Sporting, the rest play for clubs not having successful seasons.

I think my conclusion is a fairly sound one based on evidence. It's not a revolutionary belief that the most effective way to bypass a defence in football is to pass through it. Dribbling is exciting, but has waned in importance and continues to do so. Teams that reliant upon it, and therefore have players on the most prolific dribblers list, do so primarily because they're not very good and are reliant of moments of individual greatness. In short, they dribble because they have to because they have no one to pass to.

Dribbling isn't useless, but it shouldn't be the primary strategy.

Remember people spent multiple trf windows jizzing over Traores dribbling ability.........?

Having the most dribbles per 100 touches isn't the same as being the best or most effective dribblers in the world.

Most of that bunch likely just dribble so often to that extent because they are otherwise limited in ability

I’ve watched him play a couple of times. Lovely prospect. Not a winger as such though, more of a wide 10 type. I think we need some purer ball carriers, and with Donley and Moore as the creative young forwards.
Remember, he's still only 17 so he's still developing as a player as well as his style of play and his physique. He can carry the ball quite well for a 17 years old.
Gray, Bergvall, Rigg could - I repeat could - become a top class CMF trio.
However, I would, of course, prefer if Donley develops into a top quality OMF (for Spurs).

We need to be ruthless this summer to get our forward line up to scratch.

If we still have Son/Kulu/Johnson as our starting wide options next season we have failed.

Add Gittens/Dibling to the Tel signing and give Odobert and Moore the other minutes. We need to roll the dice with a new crop of forwards. We've seen where the old guard gets us to.

Sell Richy and Johnson. Werner is gone. Son can stay around for the League Cup and friendlies.

Hahah you have so much faith in ENIC...... none of that shit will happen.
I bet you Richy and Johnson will still be here, Son will probably leave so will Werner since his contracts up and we will sign
another mediocre player for around 60 to 70 million and complain why he is not good enough next season.

With the form we showed at the start of this season and last before the injuries, and having strengthened the squad in Jan with quality backups, plus the young kids all coming through now, I genuinely believe we can challenge for silverware next season if we sign a top top quality tricky right winger.

For me that's the only thing holding us back now as we keep needing to pull someone away from their best position to play there (Moore and odobert from LW, Kulu from AM) or we play Johnson who is useless against low blocks.

A Bakayoko or Kubo would be transformative.

Even Gittens and Dibling don’t move the needle that much for me. Both are extremely talented but raw as hell. We need to add at least one forward who’s mid-20s and experienced who can perform consistently, Mbuemo, Semenyo, or someone from another league in that kind of ballpark.

Hey, Airfixx Airfixx ..mate. how you doing.

What's your thoughts on the the rumoured Qatari buy out? Would put a whole new slant on our potential summer transfer window.

Excited?

Just hijacking this but any and all conversations about the direction of the club and transfer policy go out the window of the Qatari buyout happens before the summer.
