That’s just not where Gomes has ever played.
He’s always been in deep lying playmaker in senior football. That’s why he didn’t get chances at United, they thought he was too small to play there in the PL.

Well, ok- I guess we won't be registering any real interest in that case. Wing and CAM are just about the only place you can afford to have smaller players these days, and you can't really have too many or you will cede too much in set pieces. My opinion of course.

I'm much more interested in David on a free anyways.

Stats look great. We seem well set at the 8 right now though. I'm more in favor of working with what we have in CM right now though- we have so much talent if it can just be used the right way.

A flex 6/8 to back up Gray while he grows into the role would be amazing. Bentancur could be that for us I think. Penny pinching move yes but I always try to think of what would be easiest/likely for us to do.

People hate on Madders and Kulu for whatever reasons, but I could see them being a very efficient troupe at CAM for us.

As for the 8 we have the very clearly talented and still developing Sarr and Bergvall. Why would we even want to mess with that kind of obvious growth arc?

We don't really need to spend much at all to get ourselves set up the right way in CM. I'd rather spend money in attack and on LB.

I'm really not sure are set at 8 at all. i would move Bentancur and Bissouma this summer which leaves us:

Gray & new maybe Cardoso?

IMO we are crying out for a more creative pure 8. Bergvall will be that player eventually but he's still developing.

It won’t when we offload Biss and Bentancur. I don’t think Donley will be a starter for us anyway. We need to build around Gray and Bergvall. Add two to challenge and support those. I’d keep madders and also go for another creative quick mobile middle to front player. Deki is too cumbersome for me. I want to see energy,aggressive pace and directness.

Liverpool are the best team in the premier league because they have those attributes when going forward. Salah,Diaz,Gakpo,Jota and Nunez all want to hurt teams by running in behind.
In midfield they have good footballers but not brilliant players. They all compete,get the ball forward quickly and can support front players or make runs beyond them. They are aggressive and quick in everything they do. We are the utter opposite. We are one paced,all players come to the ball apart from Solanke.

I thought this the other day. We need to send Tel back and seriously look at getting three forwards in that can stretch teams and are technically gifted. I think I get rid of Richarlison, Bissouma, Devine, Dragusin, Whiteman Porro and focus on upgrade the level of the forward line and midfield. So Donnely gets a proper go, Ricardo Rios, Dibbing, Cunha, let's add some footballers Delap would add a bit of bastard too.
