Transfers The Summer Transfer Edging Thread 2025

Trouble seems to be is if we get a new 6 in and a new 8 will it restrict Gray and Donley getting an opportunity.
I recall Wenger once saying that he didn’t want to sign an established midfielder as it would “kill” Denilson.

That didn’t work out too well. And I’m nervous about us falling into the same trap. If our young players are good enough, they should play, no matter who else is in the squad. But we need more established players now, even for depth.

But don’t just get rid of Bissouma, would have to be Bentancur also.

Apparently we have offered Bentancur a new contract.
Maybe a unpopular opinion but to me it makes sense.

He hasn't been his old self since the injuries started piling up. But he's still far more reliable than Biss is. And with both of their contracts expiring it makes sense to hold onto one of them for now instead of moving both on at the same time. Move Biss on this summer and then look to move Bentancur the summer after.

I use to try and gauge our players on a simple "would they get into x team"... x would normally be one of the established top 6 or sky 6... now I would argue that the likes of Biss, Betancur and Sarr would struggle to get a game at Brighton, West Ham, Bournemouth or Brentford. I know many will disagree and say the system is killing them but is the system really the issue or are the players simply not good enough.

Tottenham Hotspur could trump top-flight rivals Manchester United and Manchester City in their pursuit of Sporting attacker Francisco Trincao in the summer transfer window, according to reports - with Ange Postecoglou thought to be 'monitoring the progress' of the attacker who has been called 'absolute magic' in the past.

Trincao has had an odd career path so far, having burst onto the scene at Braga before securing a move to Barcelona. However, he wasn't fully trusted in Catalonia with just three goals in 42 appearances, moving on loan for an equally unsuccessful loan spell to Wolverhampton Wanderers; and it's only from there that he's found his feet at Sporting. But Trincao could make his way back to England - with Tottenham set to make their interest known in his interest

With just one-year left on his contract at the age of 25, Trincao represents an interesting option for the Premier League strugglers to pursue under Postecoglou, who is thought to be keen on the former Wolves star. Trincao managed 23 goals and 27 assists under Amorim, and an exit from the Primeira Liga is far from confirmed - yet Sporting want him to sign a new contract, and that is unlikely at present.
