And? He’s been a successful manager with lots of experience. He wasn’t suited to the PL with this group of players, but I think we need to be thoughtful over the quality of the players we do have.

We need to add some more quality, absolutely. But the squad of players we currently have should not be finishing 17th.

Simple as that.

So no, 'and' at all.

"He's been a successful manager with lots of experience" LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOL

And you think that's a fair reflection of the squad we have? Really?

Do you really think our squad has the quality for 17th?
We have the quality for top 8 as of right now with a competent manager.

We used to have prime Son, Kane, Eriksen and Alli. Where's the ambition?

Where are the bids?

Kane came through academy as a youngster first PL start at age 21, Alli picked up from League 1 as a youngster, Eriksen picked up from Ajax as a 21 year old, 23 year old Son was well before his prime when joining Spurs - so far before his prime some 'fans' called for his sale after a slightly disappointing first season.

Players for comparison might include 17 year old Moore following in 21 year old Kane's footsteps, players such as 19 year old Bergvall emulating 21 year old Eriksen, 20 year old Odobert emulating 21 year old Son etc.

About 2 and a half months to go before window closes - window re-opened today - so plenty of time for bids still and to allow players to leave to create space for incoming players

Shouldn’t but they did. There’s a chance that it wasn’t the manager, and this is the players par in terms of ability and fitness/resilience.

I’m hopeful Frank gets them flying, but I’m not stupid enough to think simplychanging the manager = top 6

And non of them where anywhere near world beaters when we got them!

I want proven top quality players in their prime as much as the next person but c'mon don't just trash all the players we do have!
Son had 5 successful seasons in the bundesliga with Leverkusen and Hamburg. He played 159 games scoring 48 goals. He had 52 caps already for Korea before joining Spurs.

Eriksen was Ajax's main man before he joined us. He played 160 games for Ajax, 30 of which in the Champions/Europa League. He had 49 caps for Denmark.

Those 2 transfers are the equivalent of Bentancur and Kulusevski, Vertonghen and Aldeirwerald, Romero....not Bergvall, Gray, Tel, Kinsky, Odobert etc...

The latter being very inexperienced and mostly teenagers.

We need to get back to buying players aged 23-25 that are ready to push on to being 1st team regulars in the prem.

Like I said, we still need more quality, but there is no way those groups of players should be 17th. That's very largely down to Ange.

Confident Frank will be better - at least he's tactically capable. But I agree it's not JUST about changing the manager.

I agree, but none of them had really done anything to suggest they would reach the heights and synergy between them that they did.
As I said earlier in another post I'd love 1 or 2 players in there prime. Eze, mbeuno etc but there are people that slaughter our players and go way overboard. We actually have the makings of a very very good team in a season or 2 but we just need that splash of quality now.

Eriksen and Son were significant outlays in their time. They also had proved themselves at major european clubs, were established internationals and their countries best player by the time the moved to Spurs.

Its incomparable to Tel, Kinsky, Bergvall, Gray etc...

Ajax like today was well past the date when they were regarded as a major european club and Leverkeusen is not a top european club either.

Eriksen was a promising young player when he joined Spurs - Bergvall already looking as if he might get to peak Eriksen, but we'll see, just as Son disappointed in his first season e were unlucky to find Odobert injured in his first seasom.

All the players you cite went from 'promising youngsters under Poch, ran into ground under Poch who made team look good but never won anything - and importantly never brought any notable youngsters through from academy to first team nor bought any notable players from 2016 to 2019 which is why we have been rebuilding in last few years to get back to the level of squad we had. No club brings in more than 5 or 6 decent players a season which is why a total rebuild such as we have been through takes so long.

We've got the numbers we need in the squad, now into the selective upgrading of some players

Not really. Eriksen was 12m cos his contract was running down. He’d also been passed over by the likes of City and other big clubs because of his perceived lack of physicality. Son was 22m and was a decent price, but again he was a kid and it took him a year to acclimatise.

Kane was a kid from the academy. Erikson was a cheap punt when we missed out on Willian IIRC, and Dele...........only cost five mil.
I guess £20m for Son in 2015 was a fair amount of us.
But ask yourself, where was the ambition with those players when we signed them
