I said arguably, and I think considering his numbers over the past 2 seasons (which includes Champions League) he has to be in the discussion.
The Portuguese league hasn’t seen a striker like him since Falcao, and many would have put him in the discussion of one of the best in Europe at Porto.
Also I would argue about teams regretting paying 60 million for him.
We paid 65 mil for Dominic Solanke who score 9 PL goals, if you think Gyokores wouldn’t match them numbers you’re kidding yourself.

Our Bozo board didn't want to part with the 20m Blackburn wanted when it was clear he was an exceptional talent. They were probably annoyed at their inability to act of the initial interest and decided to overspend on Gray so it didn't happen again. Sadly for them and us Gray is not and will never be the player Wharton has become.
We get into these situations constantly where we're sniffing around talent that won't sign new deals at their club and leverage is building to acquire them for a lower transfer fee than they're worth
But then PRECISELY BECAUSE their acquisition cost is going downward, that value is moving instead to bidding up the player's wages beyond what we're willing to pay
This is a transfer market tactic that has past its expiration date, we're wasting our time searching for deals this way.
