Transfers The Summer Transfer Edging Thread 2025

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

Makes no sense to me that we drop 50m on a reserve CB in this window.

Just get the fucking attackers in!
Again...Romero, Micky and Danso have all had plenty injury troubles. Cuti's never played a full PL season for us, VdV only played 13 league games last year, big Kev missed over 120 days in 24/25...it's not that unreasonable to expect one of/all 3 of them to miss a significant amount of time this season, though we sure pray that they don't.

Our current backups are Ben Davies, Vusko (til he moves to Hamburg), Takai & Drago...and the Japanese & Romanian both come with serious question marks over their level.

So nope, signing another top quality CB this summer wouldn't be stupid or wasting our money, it'd be very wise actually. Ditto re buying a starting calibre LB and a world class LW& CF before Sept 2nd...followed by a new goalie and CAM this winter/next summer.

My worry with the Eze deal, is that Levy will be put off by no potential future sell on. 60m, five year contract, for a 27 year old!
Savinho at 21 for 65-70m, there's a chance he will at least get your money back.
Let me be the first to reassure you we are slowly but surely paving the way to be one of the leading lights ✨️ with regards to buying players and not making much profit on them when we get rid.

But the Savinho link suggests we’re gonna play with two wingers. I think we are just gonna mix it up and be throughly unpredictable for opponents - and I love that we’re gonna catch a lot of them out.
That's Frank's way wasn't it, and that's what we were all crying out for the last two years, a manager with at least a tiny amount of tactical acumen who'd play to our strengths and to our opponents' weaknesses

I know it sounds a bit unbelievable that we might sign Eze, Savinho and Hincapie, but the talk for ages has been how Frank wants one more attacker and one CB...but that was before Maddison did his ACL.

So essentially, the plan was a LF (Savio), CB (Hincapie) and the bonus has been Eze because of the Maddison injury.

I know it sounds a bit like Levy has gone crazy, but if the plan was always to spend circa 180 million on Kudus, Savio and Hincapie, well that's not an outragous sum of money for a summer window from a club of our size.

And obviously the club has been forced to go and sign a number 10, and they don't come cheap. And the club cannot afford to take a punt on that position. It's absolutely key that Maddison is replaced by someone who can come into the side and deliver immediately. Otherwise, the whole team struggles this season.

So whilst it's fantastic to see the club targeting the right level of player, it's not as insane as it probably first sounds.

I BELIEVE!

Also I do wonder if last summer's transfer business, where we essentially signed a bunch of kids, shook up Levy and the board to a huge degree, subsequently finishing 17th.

Maybe there was a touch of arrogance, that we felt we were in a good place as a team and club. And seeing the complete disaster of the league campaign made the club realise that we do need to pull our finger out and add genuine quality, otherwise, not only can you get left behind, you can potentially end up in a relegation battle.

I’ve been hurt so many times before…

I’m still saying Eze and Savinho… if we somehow got Hincapie as well…

Nah fuck it, refusing to think about it yet
Same.

If we gonna be interested in that calibre of player, ofc they gonna cost serious money...so if COYS Daniel is surprised and expecting to get them for a bargain, then he really is a clueless cunt.

No more being interested to eventually end up with the famous "we tried". Fuck that. Get it done...x 3.

Eze, Savinho and Hincapie on top of Danso, Palhinha and Kudus...that'd be pretty solid business, though we once again left it late & most were opportunistic signings. Would still be disappointed with another couple bits, mostly the lack of Englishmen/Brits in that squad (Guehi over Hincapie, Gallagher/McTominay over Palhinha, Bowen over Kudus, plus MGW) but getting them 3 sure would ease a lot of pain & frustration.

Bissouma has one year left of residency to get British nationality.

U.K. nationality law doesnt permit you to apply if you’ve spent more than 450 days outside the country in the past five years. That’s 15 months. If he does that the five years reset and he’s unlikely to have another five years of playing in him after moving abroad.

If a British club comes in for him then he will go, otherwise I think it’s unlikely. He’ll see out his contract to get British citizenship and move on a free after.

I would be absolutely shocked to my core if we sign these players. Maybe Eze but it would be so out of character to go get 2 or 3 of them.
This is absolutely 100% what we should do and should have been doing for at least 6 years now.

Bit of a strange one for me. Yes he's versatile enough to cover CB and LB, but he also just 6'0. Not exactly great as a back 4 LCB cover imo. But perfect for playing a back 3 or lopsided back 4.
BREAKING NEWS: you don't need to be a giant to become a quality CB, even in the oh so mightily physical PL.

And 6ft (184cm) for 12st (77kg)...the guy is no weak midget either.

Micky is 6'4 and he ain't all that great in the air.

Odds on no further players coming in?
Odds on, for me. Given ENIC and Levy's past record of pretending to go for top quality players, J am astonished at how excited people are getting over website invented encouragement. If these deals are so on, why has another week passed with no transfer any closer to last week while all other clubs who have signed players recently took less than a week to get them done? I think it is best to think of facing the season with the paper thin squad we have now plus a Saha and a Nielson added at best. You will not be let down again that way.

That’s interesting!
