Limited options on the bench? Stubborn manager?

Our substitutions (when/if we make them) are having a very low impact on changing results. Is it a combination of not having players that can give something different and not bringing players on early enough that they can get in to the game?

Made a quick summary of the subs we've made so far in the league and in europe

Not being able to utilise the full squad feels like a massive red flag at the moment

Just as important as how many get used is when they get used. Waiting until the 85th or 90th minute when a change is desperately needed is also a massive red flag.

What on earth is a substitute?

Is that the crazy thing opposition teams do when they swap players to bring on fresh legs and introduce new tactics?

Our squad is feeble but sometimes you just need fresh legs and energy. Bergwijn, Lo Celso and Gil are nothing special but they couldn't play worse than Son, Lucas and Kane did. Clearly Nuno does not agree, like Poch he would rather stick with his favourites even when they are playing dog shit than give someone else a go.

I don't like how Nuno has drawn such a clear dividing line between players who he trusts in the PL and players he doesn't. Everyone needs to feel they have an opportunity to play, there has to be a togetherness in the squad and equality of opportunity. Especially when the manager is a nobody like Nuno. Mourinho exiling Dele from the PL, he had the clout to do it and Kane was playing superbly in the 10 position. Now Nuno is doing it but how is it going to go down in the dressing room when Kane is playing like a training cone yet playing every game?

When we were behind yesterday he had little more to lose by at least trying something different they seemed comfortable enough with a one goal lead especially as we had absolutely nothing in the second half for them to worry about really overall .

Exactly! Yesterday's subs were made at 84 and 91 mins - it's tough to make an impact as a sub at the best of times, let alone when you get 5-10 mins in a losing team (against a packed defence)...

Exactly!!
Time for good and cleaver substitution was long gone by that time.

For fuck sake, I don't remember ANY reasonable attempts from us from 2nd half apart this time when ball was slightly behind Skippy. What a dumbfuck you have to be not to even TRY to change anything up ?!?! Just like NLD first half all over again. Absolutely clueless piece of shit standing in the dugouts without any intent of changing anything up. Utter shambles.

And yet people (including Nuno, no doubt) will point to the fact that the subs made little impact…

What he said when asked about late subs was even worse, I think from his distant demeanor, moodiness and lack of passion/energy that he's constantly on a come down from some good drugs because he's talking a load of shite about controlling games etc.

Tbh, the players themselves have played a big part in that........

What's the fashionable party drug of choice for Portugese gentlemen, ketamine?

I definitely think horse tranquilizers makes a bit of sense in the context of our football for the past two years.
