Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

I'm comfortable with it because I've come to terms with our place in the pecking order since the Eze debacle.

You're holding onto the idea there is something better available. But we've gone through the best options and agreed they are unachievable.

This is the start of the rebuild, not the final pieces.

Better than what Sav CURRENTLY offers (*).... Yes; yes I am.

(*Let's project what Sav stands to bring us over the next 6 months........... Assuming a lesser output than the city set up facilitates...... 4 or 5 assists / 1 goal? .......Might as well wait til the summer and persist with trying to grow Odobert if that's all that's on the menu.)

We are going to pay huge money for 19, 20 year-old huge potentials again aren't we? Our next Tel. And then send them on loan next year.

We never learn do we?

I think that's a risk we must accept for a percentage of the players we purchase,

That, or spend a slightly lesser amount on players at the back end of their career, who may still have something to offer. A Zhaka for example or Henderson.

Once a player like Semenyo tips the scales of interest towards the top 2 or 3 clubs, it's nearly a pointless pursuit, so we are pretty much forced to buy on potential or on experience.

Let's not also overlook that lot are top and yet none of their summer acquisitions has contributed massively as yet. How many of cnut club's summer signings have been top dollar - Estavao arguably.

It's a hard marker to plunder talent from, and that's where you are even more reliant at the present time on the quality of your manager.

I think we have to continue to take a chance, and maybe just maybe, part of the problem is the quality of the coaching or the scale of the expectation.

5 assists and 1 goal isn't far off Kudus' output so far. As I said, that's our level.

I'd happily keep going with Odobert too.

The thing that I don't understand is you're 100% we can get someone better, but haven't suggested any name.

That's not true.... As is evident from the 2nd para of my last post.

My HOPE is that we can find better; and if not, I question both a) the point in buying Savinho and b) the prowess of our scouts.

Are you sure Eze didn't join Woolwich because that's the team he supports? He said when he was a youngster it was watching Woolwich and specifically Henry that made him want to try a footballers career himself. He'd been in their academy and was apparently depressed for a long time when the released him.
So even if they were below us in the Premier League he could well have still chosen them.

Definitely a contributing factor.

Clubs like Chelsea that play a numbers game with their signings, for whom it wouldn't be the end of the world to lose dozens of millions on a player in the worst case scenario, could afford a signing like Diomande. He would be little more than another asset added to their large portfolio of assets.

We on the other hand sign players that we think will make significant contributions on the pitch. And there's no way anybody has seen enough of a 19 year old to conclude that he would be worth breaking our transfer record for.
Any Spurs fan who wants us to sign Diomande, especially for 70-80 or even 100mil...is friggin crazy and needs to have a serious word with themselves.

Such a bunch of losers on here talking the club down and fannying on about "accepting our place in the pecking order.

Bollocks to that. We have everything in place to attract the top players if the club shows the willingness to compete.

Show a top player the money, the chance to play in front of 60,000 every week, and convince them that this is a club that means business and expects to compete for major trophies over the next decade and he will come.

We're also a Champions league club ffs with a rich European pedigree.

"Accept our place in the pecking order"? .Fuck right off with that shite on a Tottenham Hotspur forum.

We aren’t stupid enough to sign him for that kind of money. Not desperate enough either. He’s just not proved it. They bought him for €20m in the summer. He’s not worth much more than that now.
Pal, even if we could get him for 40-50 mil, I still wouldn't sign him.

We've already got 40mil Tel, 30mil Odobert and 60mil Xavi as young attacking players with a big price tag and a lot to prove (and improve). All three have a better track record.

Would be such a wtf signing, unless it's a straight swap for Tel or Odobert. And I'd still rather keep the Frenchies.

Mentioned a few times, but think a signing like Mitoma makes a lot of sense.

He's 28 and would go straight into the first team, allowing Odobert / Tel to develop. Once he hits his 30s they should be in a position to step up.

Think his contract is up either this year or next to wouldn't cost an arm and a leg.

18 months left...... For what little it's worth; TFM says 30m euro.... Add January tax.... 45/50m at a guess.

Show a top player the money (they get the same/better money elsewhere), the chance to play in front of 60,000 every week (who have booed the christ out of the players), and convince them that this is a club that means business and expects to compete for major trophies over the next decade and he will come (Do you think this isn't what every club says to a potential signing :roflmao:).

We're also a Champions league club ffs with a rich European pedigree (The majority of the players are already at CL clubs with rich European pedigree).

The fact you don't even comprehend the bold above is hilarious. We've literally just gone through it twice with Eze and Semenyo.

As I've mentioned previously, you're the fella that tells his mates down the pub Spurs are as big as Real Madrid, Barcelona, Liverpool and Manchester United, then has absolutely no idea why he's being mocked and whinges on here about other fans laughing at us, as if you aren't the very reason.

There is a pecking order in football whether you like it or not.

When we win the CL or Prem, I'll put us right up there where you think we are currently. But because of that we aren't elite yet, just like Woolwich.

I appreciate you abandoning the ''London is alluring because of the nightlife'' narrative you were pushing though. You're learning.

Note the poster who failed to celebrate our Europa win now spouting more nonsense.

Let's all believe we can attract the best players out there, and when we return from being laughed at and away from La La land, the players that we might snare have moved on.

We are at a particular point in time on our cycle, have to recognise that, and then do our level best to get the right players to take us forward, and the right manager to achieve that. Neither is happening right now.

If posters want to start liking a notion, because it creates a warm sensation then please continue, but it's a Fool's paradise, designed to suit a narrative.

Great player who has yet to regain his place at Brighton after a decent spell injured.

He'd be quite the risk too. Maybe watch Brighton over the next couple weeks and get a better understanding of where he's at. He gets lively again, pounce.
