Transfers The Winter Transfer Thread - 25/26

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

Only City have spent more than half this window. Might be third after Palace spend 50m on Strand Larsen.

Most teams haven’t spent even 5m.

January is a tough month.

Mateta smells like Palace revenge for what we did to them with Johnson.

I could live with him as backup to Dom, but can't stop thinking about this revenge factor 😅

I know we moan about lack of recruitment, but £85m for Strand-Larsen and Brennan Johnson is woeful from Palace.
I don't want to defend ENIC but the transfer market is fucking crazy. £40-£50m now for an absolutley average player is unreal.

Strand-Larsen would have been a £12-£15m pound player not that long ago.

These increases can't be sustainable surely?

This is why I would rather spend £100m+ on a top drawer player who will move the needle.

Being able to offer an EPL stepping stone and regular game-time is what bags players for clubs like Palace, Brighton, Westham etc.

This is kind of my point on him stepping up - operating at a club like Spurs is a whole different level

Different budget, appeal, demands, different level of negotiation etc

At teams like Palace you need to spot talent about to bloom, give an opportunity, and cash in when it works...

I think he did excellent work there, so its an interesting thought to wonder how he might do here (honestly Ive no idea)

How many of those clubs have 13 players unavailable and long term injuries to most of their Goals and Assists from last season?

I appreciate that clubs don't want to sell in January and that the prices of even average players are ridiculous right now.

But those in charge of transfer policies have know we needed reinforcements for months now. Its their job to find the right purchases and they've had months to sound out clubs and players ahead of the window.

ANY other PL club would have bought an attacking player or two in with the injuries we have had and our precarious league position.

It's not good enough, particularly when this club is as rich as it is and the fans are paying so much.

Blah blah blah.

15 years ago the complaint was that we didn’t make signings in January when we could have pushed on and challenged for the league.

Most teams are playing for something important. It’s very tight in there. And these rich teams can’t spend even 5m to strengthen?
