Transfers The Winter Transfer Thread - 25/26

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

Sorry but Levy would see it as a loss and not do it , the best example of this was David Bentley . I am not saying Levy was right to think that way , but he could never accept people getting one over on him , as he saw it .

He was the master at cutting off his nose to spite his face

Hanging on to shit players didn't effect Levy.

That's why he would retain them, or loan them, rather than sell them.

Selling a player at a loss would have looked bad on the balance sheet.

He would then have needed to go out and buy another load of junk to replace the previous load of junk.

More administration costs.

He was a bean counter.

He counted beans.

THFC paid for his mistakes and he took a bonus for making them.

Links to the like of Gallagher, and some other midfielders, are beginning to concern me.

Im not sure how/where a player like this is supposed to fit.

We have Bergvall, Gray and Sarr as 8s all of whom need minutes.
Xavi and Maddison as 10s
Palinha as a 6. I think Bentancur is meant to be as well, but he's not is he?

Gallagher is best as a high pressing disruptive player (sounds very Frank) but Im just not sure I see the benefit in getting him in.
Gallagher as a permanent transfer instead of Palinha.
That's my guess.

If we are seriously targeting the likes of Yildiz and Diomande and shipping out the likes of Johnson, that is definitely a sea change to our transfer policy.

Yes, some of these players we won't be able to get, but with the rumours of us willing to increase our wage budget also, although less of an issue with the younger players, it would represent a change.

Under Levy we would always be linked with the top talents, but end up signing players 5 or 6 names down the list because we weren't willing to pay the agent fees / salaries etc and Levy would rather buy cheap buy thrice.

He looked at the transfer window as some sort of game of brickmanship like he was down the car boot sale, or buying property, and trying to get one over on the other selling party, rather than just buying the best possible players for the club, because you know, we are a football club.

I forgot to mention Kulusevski, would probably be more a 10 as well - I dont see him as a Frank RW.

Maybe Frank would play him LW?

He's not a 6. Terrier like presser/ball winner - but best in more advanced positions disrupting the other team.

In an Ange team would make a lot of sense. In a Frank one? Maybe - but at the expense of other, better players. Not as a DM/6 IMO.

We don't sign the players we need, though.
It's who we are.

Yes yes very boring. Johnson has a ton of warts but he’s proven to be more productive than Kudus and RKM.

But I appreciate goals and assists more than holdup play and step overs 🤷‍♂️

Don’t even think it’s bad business to move on from Johnson but I have no faith we’ll get the right players in.
Johnson is statistically one of the worst wingers in Europe when it comes to passing, dribbling, and general shot creation. Not great things to be bad at if you're a winger whose main job is to beat his man and create scoring chances.

He might for sure

I’m just saying the way clubs see transfers based on how it’s been explained by experts.

Call it what you want but we will eventually pay the agreed price in full. If you sign a player for £25m over 5 years (5m per season) you still have to pay the remaining £10m if you sell him after 3 years

It’s not how I want to call it, that’s how club accounting is done. In terms of FFP this is a neutral transfer that scored us goals to get 5th, then scored the winner in the EL final

Samenyo to City all but done.

Instant needle mover at Spurs.
£300k a week cog at City.

Said it before, will say it again.
We shouldn't have sacked him. We should have asked him to fix all the (real, genuine) problems he listed in his rant.[
Wouldn't have made any difference he wanted to leave and wouldn't have stayed whatever was offered/promised. This wasn't simply the (and there was more than one) rants of someone not being backed or listened to, he was also suffering from ill health, depression and home sickness which all combined to cause him to engineer a move away without actually breaking his contract.

Johnson going and Maddison and Solanke injured means we need to buy associate trained HG player to fill quota for Champions League. Right now we have only Spence, Davies and Gray if i'm correct
