This is such a fantastic signal.

It puts players on alert that they need to up their game to stay here and reassures fans that we've turned a corner and won't just hang on to players forever and will move them on and seek to upgrade.

Love it.

Been too comfortable here.

Agree and it’s a signal that’s not about Brennan Johnson the individual but a message to the culture of the club.

Need to hold that line when he goes there and succeeds to because this will absolutely motivate him to succeed as well. Competitive ruthlessness is win win.

The moment he scores a goal for his next club: "Arrrggghhhhhgggggggggg we should never have sold him!"

Yep, if people are completely short sighted which they are they will whine. He looks crushed by the weight of our shirt. He is a Welsh wide forward at the club of Jones and Bale. This isn't the place for him no matter what he does elsewhere. He should have used their history to motivate and push him on. That hasn't happened. Let him go get better wish him well.

He’s out of contract in the summer is he not? Man United will take him back there I think. They actually don’t have that many academy graduates in and around their first team anymore, so they’ll want him back for that quota and to continue their tradition of always having one in the squad. The pull of playing for them regularly will also be there for the boy having come up through their academy his whole life.
That'll totally stagnate his career but wouldn't surprise me. United still seem to have complete pull even though they've spent the last decade destroying careers. Still amazes me how agents are allowing their players go there. Mbeumo and Cunha had their pick of clubs

I mean he scored 8 league goals for an uber-wank Forest team so I reckon he'll be good for at least 10 goals a season if he's playing pretty regularly at Palace. There will 100% be people saying we shoulda kept him when it happens, completely ignoring the countless times an entire third of the pitch was a dead-zone for us in possession cos every team worth their salt knew pressing Johnson a little bit meant he'd cough up the ball instantly.

No ill will against the guy but I'd be shocked if I ever see a Spurs winger who is so fundamentally awful at all of the football basics you'd expect from a wide player. He'll always be a cult hero for Bilbao and he's a lovely finisher, but dear god I won't miss seeing his name on the teamsheet.

As for replacing him, we've been linked to a ton of left wingers, so clearly that's a point of priority. In reality, Kudus was his replacement and the new signing will, ideally, be more of a legit Son replacement.

I reckon this is pointed at Tel, Odobert and Sarr. Possibly even Simons if we could get back most of what we paid for him. Don’t think he’s overly keen on any of them.

In fairness to him, if we got £25m back for Tel and Odobert, maybe £30m for Sarr and close to what we paid for Simons. I’d probably agree with him.
