Transfers The Winter Transfer Thread - 25/26

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

Lets just wait and see over the next few days how much of the clubs statement from the summer rings true. Diomande would be a fantastic signing, both for now and in the future, and is immeasurably better than Tel and Odobert (who i think is still improving). We need strength in depth (that we now have at centre back) and this would be a big step in the right direction.

Tottenham Hotspur Tottenham's new board (under new non-executive chairman Peter Charrington) wants to make a statement of long-term ambition and financial stability, shifting focus from pure profit towards sporting success, indicated by rejecting takeover bids, backing new manager Thomas Frank with significant transfer funds, and aiming for "statement signings"

Also potentially an absolute dud.
You don't pay megamega money for players unless they have "done it" consistently. Especially if you can't afford for the gamble to not pay off.

Players who have "absolutely done it" won't come to us, or haven't you read up on the Eze and Semenyo transfers?

Who was the last player who has "done it" that we have signed?

Lineker, Gascoigne, Sheringham, Ardiles, etc?

I think Lloris was possibly the last proven player to come to us, possibly Toby or Jan?

We are a step up club for players looking beyond the shiny stadium and London nightlife.

We are in the CL and just won the EL a trophy of some merit, irrespective of what the media say, but even that hasn't opened the floodgates to some of Europe's best players wanting to come to us.

At this moment in time we are at the second level in the pecking order for any players signature, irrespective of our financial worth and standing in European football.

Paratici parting gift?

Probably bollocks. Never heard of him but that doesnt mean anything nowadays!

Mousa has risen!

Johnson having a medical at Palace. Good start to the window.

I'm sceptical to very sceptical about the type of players Frank wants at the club and within that those he feels are surplus to requirements, based on his model of PL quality.

I'm also unsure if anyone above Frank can sanction a sale or purchase of any player without Frank's green light of approval.

What I hope is that we don't think it's okay to lose a player to an acceptable bid if we haven't got someone else lined-up. The aspect of a better player compared to whoever is a question that only yields an answer over time.

But it would be impossible to accept if we lose a player at the start of the window, as is being mooted, and then fumble our way through the whole of January without a seemingly suitable replacement, as we are hardly the most blessed squad and can ill afford culling for the sake of a few quid.

How much of it comes down to money though ? It seems other clubs can always blow us out of the water on players wages, I get we won’t always be first choice for players , however if we change our wages structure it might help a bit.
