Opportunistic buys/gazumping is what we do.

Dragusin. Danso. Archie. Bergvall. Johnson. Bentancur. Kulu. Xavi. Kudus. Now Conor.

Reactive over proactive. Tactical over strategic. Always.
It has to be both. Gallagher mightnt have been on radar first but needs must. Yes we're shit at been proactive but needs must with injuries in midfield at times and we went and got someone in.

This is so odd. He is a really good player like Maddison or Xavi but with a lot more physical presence. Issue is we then have Maddison, Xavi, this guy, Kulusevski and with Moore and Williams-Barnet coming through. 6 AM’s, which is great if we want to go for a more Pep style of player but fuck knows how Frank will deal with it. He hardly wants one playing.

Not that odd.

We don't know which Maddison we are getting back and he's not young anymore.
Kulu similar and more of a RW
Xavi hasn't pulled up trees.
Moore + LWB unknown at this stage but likely a couple years away

It could be that we go from Madders/Kulu to Xavi/Akliouche and then Moore/LWB are next in line

Gallagher ...
Does he improve us? Yes.
Does he provide more leadership to the spine of our team? Yes.
Is he home grown / association trained? Yes.
Is he experienced / will he hit the ground running? Yes.
Does he have a resale value? Yes.

... lots of ticks in the right boxes. Not great squad building to a vision by any means, but an opportunistic signing of a player who became available that improves our first team and makes us better. Crack on.
Spot on 👏

Oh, don't forget the time when we went to Barca to scout Ferran Torres/Frankie de Jong (not sure who exactly)...

....just to fucking get laughed off....

....and offered Emerson Royal...

...Who we then actually brought...

...For 25 million!

I hope we’re still look at 2 more Akliouche can play 10 but also either wing, very versatile

Snd then a deep lying passer. Ruben Neves seems to be the popular name mentioned.

I recall he enjoyed scoring some bangers from distance….

That’ll be coached out of him if he comes….

You think? He's a much tidier footballer, would be our best technical midfielder by a long way (Of those fit). Far less off-ball aggression and goal threat though.

He isnt quite top draw but he is a good player. Doesnt score enough goals to be an attacking midfielder. We'd basically be adding yet another eight to our stable of them. Like I said, good player and not getting enough game time at Liverpool. Doesnt really move the dial for us though.

A midfield of Gallagher and Neves with Xavi in front of them is actually really good and well balanced. Any rumors of Neves wanting to leave Saudi?
