Ok performance Vs Brighton?? We were far better then them and undeservedly went 2 down. We deservedly equalised and should have won it.

Wolves I think was ok but I can understand people saying it was bad. To me it was ok because we restricted them to zero chances bar their set piece goal and created chances to be comfortably ahead in the first half.

Villa Def not a poor performance. We scored early, created a few more chances and restricted them to zero clear cut chances. They scored from 2 excellent long range efforts and moments of brilliance.
We clearly have different standards.

We have midfield and winger/forward rotation options. If they’re good enough is a different matter.

Defensively it’s different, especially at FB they get through a huge amount of work. Djed, Pedro and Udogie have to play every game between them until January. Doubt there are any other CL teams with 3 senior FB/WB in their team in total. Not even a viable youngster behind them to fill in.
Vdv is a very good LB.

When Romero is back he can go LB with Danso and Romero CBs if needed.

Jan Vertonghen 2.0.

Not from what I can remember... we were carved open with ease for the first and nobody bothered to close down for the second and needed a Brighton own goal for the second... for most of that game other than 10 mins at the start, it felt like we deserved very little.

I thought that was our best attacking performance of the season. Should of won the game definitely. A place we always lose at.

No, stats are not meh. They're a fundamental part of the game, and the coach you love, is a big stats guy.

It means that we're scoring goals at an unsustainable rate, and not conceding goals at unsustainable rate. It won't last forever, and when it balances out (and it will because we had a very favorable run to start the season), then results aren't going to be pretty. Unless we can think up a new attacking strategy outside crossing, which statistically, we're atrocious at then we're in trouble.
I know this point is quite meaningless but if we carry on as we are, with 17 points every 9 games, in 36 games we'll have 68 points with two matches left to play.

Newcastle got 5th last season with 66 points, and Chelsea 4th on 69 points.

Law of averages isn't a thing. So there is no guarantee any balancing out will occur.

The thing is, we either play him at some point or sell him, I think he needs to be pushing for a move in January for his own good, let him go have a career somewhere else, he may or may not be good enough for the PL but until he plays we won't know.

Dane? Sure....

I was responding to your comment about Youth Players though.

So the xg is up, but the actual number of chances is down.
What does that mean?
Maybe that stats are a bit meh?

Bottom line. Our XG and XGA are worse than this point last year.

Now, I’m not saying things won’t improve for Frank, they fucking well should do the way he sets us up, and we know they got worse for Ange, once players started dropping like flies, but people saying they can clearly see a radical defensive improvement are exaggerating imo and we are outscoring our performances offensively and defensively.

No, but given how we're playing vs level of opponent, it's more likely that it does occur. And it's not souch law of averages as fluctuations in expected behavior.
Quiet as fuck, as in didn’t post a fucking thing after the weekends match (too good a performance and result for you to digest) until yesterday, and now back to form.

Just watch some more glorified rounders or NBA and leave the big boy stuff to people that understand the game (although that would mean board would be lot quieter than is now)

Gambler's fallacy, as the name indicates, isn't a thing. Law of averages certainly is.

Each football game, like each coin flip for example, is a seperate event with its own probability distributions, so what happened in previous games has no bearing on a given game.Just because we're riding our luck at the moment doesn't mean it has to come to an end the very next game. Thinking otherwise is gambler's fallacy.

Law of averages is about the diminishing impact of statistical noise as the sample size increases, and regression to some kind of a mean as a result. In this case, based on xG numbers, teams that play like we're doing at the moment over the course of a full season finish somewhere around the mid-table. Yet we're somehow 3rd, albeit in a very congested table where things could change very radically.

So, according to law of averages, if we keep playing like this, statistical noise/luck will eventually get minimized and we'll regress to a table position more commensurate with our standard of play. We certainly won't be sitting 3rd. That's the argument.

Quiet as fuck because I was sunning myself and drinking by the pool in Mexico and didn't want to sour my trip by watching it.

Sorry I have a life outside of here, you should try it, rather refreshing.

Seen extended highlights of the Everton game. We looked very ordinary and scored two set piece goals but created very little outside that, shocker.

I suspect you rely on them when they prove your point but dispute them when they don't.

It's been a bit up and down. Burnley, City Villa, Spam, Leeds, Everton barely had a sniff of a real chance.
Other games, it was more like the alamo.

Vicario has been on top form, like he was in those first 10 matches with Postecoglou as manager.
