Glasner took a while to get his first win. Same as Iraola. They both got given the time to implement their ways to the squad.

The state of our fan base, we’d want them gone if they didn’t win in their first 5 games. Our fans are just a bigger problem as everything else.

tbh with united looking like they want to stick with amorim i dont see any reason why we couldnt offer glasner dizzying money to join in the summer, and im sure after 2 palace seasons he'd be tempted to try something bigger.
Only of course if Frank has a total nightmare and has us near relegation come may.

still very early stuff, second half of the season he should have kulu and solanke to add to what we already have , so there should be no more excuses for turgid low XG attacks

I was all for this logic before Saturday. The concern going into the game was how we are really struggling to dominate the ball at home and create chances from open play. So surely we put out a brave team that can go after a Chelsea team who are just coming off a 2-1 home defeat to sunderland and missing some key players? Right?

No. Frank decides to make this issue even worse by dropping 2 attackers from the everton game in place of 2 more midfielders. It was a shambalic selection and just handed the initiative to Chelsea. After all the talk all week about needing the fans onside and creating a fortress, we just sit back and let Chelsea get nice and comfortable. The fans were so up for this one, great atmostphere, the first few tackles were cheered, the first few periods of Chelsea possession were booed. But after 10 mins it was just chelsea knocking it around and us chasing shadows. It sucked the life out of the whole place.

It was just another case of little inferior Spurs scared of the big boys from Chelsea and Frank's selection and the first 10 mins of the game caused this. It was a Nuno moment and I can't see him recovering from this. I'd love if I'm wrong. I hope we go and beat Copenhagen 4-0 tomorrow night to prove we can actually dominate and score goals at home. But I'm guessing we'll be just hoping to score from a set piece and win ugly if possible because thats all we do now.

Disclaimer: This is not a Glasner in post. I'm fine with Frank for the time being.

Why do people bang on about how slow of a start Glasner had in Palace? This doesn't seem slow to me, considering that they were 14th when he took over. In fact I see a very strong finish to the season that earned him lots of credit for rainy days later on:

The extremely slow start to the season where he had 1 league win out of 13 took place after this, but like I said he had already had a strong ground to stand on by then.

Not every manager has to make a statement from the get go, but Glasner certainly made one. They didn't give him time out of sheer benevolence.

I'm really not. He's a deeply flawed manager and has some unpleasant personality traits but the raw numbers are incontrovertible. He massively overachieved with the squad he had available. It helps that his tactical flaws were balanced by his undoubted ability to get his players "to believe" - no matter how dark things got.

It's precisely because I'm not "blind on Ange" that I am clear eyed about the mountain Frank has to climb. Without Vic we would be mired in the bottom half. Frank is a MUCH better coach than that. And is also a proven "overachiever" with squads.

Ps: and, as you know, I'm being a bit naughty but after the Chav game I've got to do something to take my mind off it. Fuck I hate them so so much...

Mate, what raw numbers? Ange has the lowest PPG of any Tottenham coach from the last decade! Those are the raw facts/numbers. You can’t twist it to when he had his back 5 fit because if you do that you’d have to do it for zero injuries for everybody else, too.

The raw numbers are that he was mostly terrible but fluked a cup. AKA Juande Ramos but his cup is European.

Ange’s first season was alright, it then fell off a cliff towards the end and continued hurtling off a cliff until he was sacked. Undoubted ability to get players to believe? We lost almost every game second season. WTF. He got them to believe we could beat Bodo Glimt and the United side we’d beaten 3 times already because they’re terrible?!

There’s no logic to any of it mate.

Ange was extreme and unsustainable. I wanted it to work more than anyone because I loved how we played those first 10 games. Attacking, exciting and winning games but his tactics got completely found out in what has become a very cynical defensive era in the premier league. Maybe in another era Ange might have worked but the curent style of footbal with an outrageous amount of set peice goals just wasn't for Ange. We were right to sack him and move on - the cynical nature of modern day football had caught up with his fun attacking approach.

The problem with Frank is it was an extreme move to the other side. A defensive coach who is obsessed with set pieces. We've become the total opposite to what we were under Ange. Now we are a defensive team, afraid to attack but really well organised and good at set pieces. We've a lower ceiling with a higher floor under Frank but christ its boring and underwhelming. We can play bad and get results which is a huge improvement as we could never win ugly under Ange barring the few Europa games towards the end. But can we actually play good football under Frank?

I don't think AVB had any want to play attacking football.

Frank inherited a team, that lost 22games.

No real functioning left hand side, an attack about as hard hitting whipped cream.

Nearly two seasons of not being able string two passes together.

A defence so leaky, other teams were scoring for fun.

The only functioning aspect of the team we have is defence.

Frank is making us difficult to beat, with only half a functioning squad. We can't just play attacking football, we have to build the foundations first.
This is true. Leaving aside he was here in the transfer window so shares responsibility for making the wrong signings…expectations require more than can be delivered probably. The biggest concern is he appears to have seriously alienated two first team players. I am not sure that will be recoverable so that we have an acceptable season.

Why would he come here though? If we have fans wanting to sack a manager 10 league games in, why would any manager come here if they arent going to get time?

I wouldn't say that. I'm eager to give Frank time, the club is a mess. Any manager coming in was going to struggle. Constantly sacking and hiring the next manager isn't going to work, the last 15 managers are proof of that. The only manager that worked out well (other than a trophy) was Poch, and guess what... He was given time.

Romero, Van de Ven, Porro, Udogie and Kudus are the only ones who get into squads within the top 8 of our league.

The likes of Richarlison, Tel, Odebert would struggle to get in at Leeds and Everton. Our squad is a major issue.

He also has the only major trophy in 40 years.

I'm sure Poch loves his collection of top 4 trophies mind you.

Sport is about winning, not coming 4th.

Yeah all the elite clubs win the fucking Europa league don’t they.

Top level sport for top 4/6 prem clubs is about winning or competing for the league or the CL. Everything else is a bonus.

Why would he come here though? If we have fans wanting to sack a manager 10 league games in, why would any manager come here if they arent going to get time?

Iraola fell apart in the second part of last season, they even dropped points to us after being 2-0 up.

Frank needs time, it would be insane to get rid in the short term and would do more harm than good.

People need to realise we've not been a good team for years now and our squad is littered with dross. Frank has to adapt as well, no more of this cowardly shit at home.

He was appointed to help us avoid relegation in my opinion.

This is becoming clearer game by game.

Frank was a manager we could attract to the club and was perceived as a credible candidate due to his longevity at Brentford.

The step up is huge. It might be too big for him.

Spurs expectation level should be to win every game.

Others may disagree with that but i believe we need to demand the highest standards going forward.

If Frank becomes an early casualty of that expecatation level then I think we should roll with it.

If our genuine aim is to get ahead of clubs like Chelsea then we need to do what they would do.

If Frank can't deliver top 4 Spurs should sack him at the point this becomes a reality.

We need to behave like a top club and stop accepting shitty projects, low budgets and low expectation levels.

Bin it off with Levy.
Totally agree. 17th last season scared Levy and Frank is his legacy. Sacrificial lamb season Frank is. Will be better managers available next summer in poch and Tuchel. Interesting earlier in the year Levy having that cafe meeting with poch. Might have asked him back but might have said committed to USA until after world cup. Tbh I hope Frank does well though. Next two home games will be interesting though.

I dread to think where we would be this season with Ange given the strong start the promoted sides have made and the shift in the game towards the importance of set pieces that Ange seemed to give fuck all thought to.

Yes he won the Europa and I’m very grateful, but what we saw at Forest is what we would have seen here - he is and was hopelessly out of his depth in the Prem.

Totally agree that its a very tough job and it would have been an insane achievement by Frank to get us into the top 4. Top 6 would be a good season and he might still do that.

But your last point sums it all up. Its so hard for fans to get behind him after last weekend. I obviously want him to do well, its an absolute disaster if we end up sacking him. But he really needs to grow a pair of balls and give the fans something to cheer for at home.

Must admit I hate us chucking aimless long throws in the box. Last few minutes or injury time chasing a game then understandable but early or middle of a game no. I can watch that down the park on a sunday. I support Tottenham to be entertained, killer passes and great goals. That's what I was brought up with.
