Wolves, Fulham, Villa...

So many infuriating performances already this season.

The greater concern for me is the number of complete no-shows.

A poor performance is one thing, could be just one of those days, a tactical mistake, a random mistake from a player ruining the gameplan...

But a clear and obvious "just didnt turn up" is a huge, huge warning sign. And to have now 3 or 4 of those...

The worrying thing for me is that this club just seems to corrupt everyone that comes into contact with it.
Toxic Tottenham - the obvious upside is the pay off when sacked or the lucrative contract with no real pressure for the players.

For us fans - esp us paying fans - there isn’t an upside to this corruptive club. Other than to walk away. We’ve been at 1990’s Spurs levels for what seems like ages now. 2015-2019 is like a weird fever dream.

These managers/players are not as bad as they appear when they are with us - hence the embarrassingly long list of players who have tasted success (form, trophies, memories) with other teams once they’ve escaped N17.

Joke club - and it isn’t ALL Levy’s fault

I wouldn't put too much stock in that aspect of things really, most players that leave us head off out to some real footballing backwaters, them winning a cup or two there isn't much to shout about.

But that in itself is pretty damning in regards to us as a club anyway, not many players come here and then go on to better places afterwards, it's not because we're so great it's hard to top, it's because we seem to ruin players and permanently halt their trajectory.

So, yesterday was my Christmas Day, because of circumstances, not going to be with family this year, so cooked a meal my for close friends, to celebrate, I live a couple of hundred of miles away from my family.

So whilst in middle of cooking the Christmas Dinner with all the trimmings, I got a text from ma mum, saying that my Uncle had passed away... Day fucking ruined, but I soldiered on, coz my friends were all their having fun, you know, keeping up appearances.

Didn't look for the match results through out the day, I left my phone as far away from me as possible, just wasn't in the mood for it.

But after they had left, I watched the highlights and the results... I knew I shouldn't have.

All I can say, is our club is full cunts... Cuntingham Hotspurs, that is who we are... Just cunts, the most fungus riddled useless bunch of cunts.

And it wont matter if you change the manager, coz the cunts will still be at the club. There are very few players who deserve to stay at the clubs... rest of the are cunts, doing the same cuntish thing every fucking game, cunts on the pitch, cunts off the pitch, and some cunt fans are defending these cunts.

Cuntingham Hotspurs can really just go fuck themselves right now.

And Frank the cunt, need to fucking wake up to or fuck off. Cunt

They don't respect him that's for sure.

Say what you want about the previous coach, they never stopped running for him and he led them to a trophy, they're probably looking at this guy thinking he's a massive downgrade.
There's no difference between this season and last season. We'd probably have a decent shot at the Europa this season but we aren't in the competition. It is a shit competition now that no CL teams drop down after the group stage. We are 11th in the CL and 11th in the PL. Europe is complete shit in comparison to the PL and its financial power.

They stayed invested for the EL fixtures, but delivered plenty of utter stinkers in the league throughout the season.

Was the former despite him rather than because of him? Probably won't find out for sure.....

Alright, time for some armchair speculation as to why managers are treated as God's gift to the world by some people who have no problem slagging off other employees of the club. Scroll past this if you can't stand such speculation.

And no, the current highly critical mood in this thread doesn't refute the existence and persistence of this weird phenomenon: I have a good enough memory to remember the vehement gatekeeping going on here a month or two ago, and I also remember the last season. It is real.

-------
I guess their presence in the dugout and in front of the press week in and week out as the representative of the club, getting soaked in rain or battling with those nasty reporters in the process, lends itself to a construction of them as these big & strong selfless father figures that the rest of the family should gather around and look up to. You may have your grievances about your father, but you express your discontent within limits. And you are not cutting ties with him, don't even think about it.

Until very recently, this was the common theme in this thread. Very mild criticism, filled with caveats that you don't want Frank sacked, was tolerated. But any suggestion of sacking him was scorned as sacrilegious. I felt sorry for those people who flat out received abuse for their views, and even found myself playing the devil's advocate to criticize him despite being [cautiously] optimistic about him overall. Look where we are now.

Konrad Lorenz's ducks and geese could be excused for following any big object as an attachment figure a few days after their birth, but grown people should know better than to get this attached to total strangers. Come on now.

I wouldn’t be surprised if Frank is looking at some of these players and thinking the same thing

I think the players are looking at Frank and thinking the same.

An ever decreasing circle.

To lose like we did yesterday, and for Frank to respond so feebly in the face of a sh!t show should worry everyone.

Four positive substitutions were required, on a day when nobody looked even half decent.

I think only young Gray had a shot on target.

It was on Frank to change things after 50 minutes. Instead he just did fcuk all until it was too late and then did fcuk all.

It is about right though.

We are run like a mid table club, with mid table quality players, and way below mid table in term of back room (recruiting) staff
Until people accept that, and stop overestimating us we will be in this never ending cycle.

We are in the main beating teams worse than us, and in the main losing to teams we should not be beating based on our quality.
We were 8th favourites at start of season, and I thought some of that was based on our name, because I didn’t think we had 8th best available team, more like 10th.

We need better quality, some will come when long term absentees return, but a big clear out is needed.
We arguably only have 2 players that other top clubs might want (our central defenders).
Look at Forest yesterday.Forest, I would take every one of their midfielders over any of ours

Probably both although our captain did come out and say that they put more effort in the EL in the latter stages than the league so...

I don’t disagree that much of the team are mediocre and need upgrading.

But an absolute whopper was able to get most of these players to a 5th place league finish and a cup win.

I’m not having it that a “better” manager can’t get more out of them than they are currently showing. Unless he’s not better.
