Article Tottenham’s full-back problem

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

Well that's you opinion re back 3, might be right might be wrong, but then the article becomes redundant as far as we're concerned.

As for whether we could have bought a new LB, who was available, how much funds, etc. You can't be sure that was a realistic possibility.

Speaking of redundant, a conversation from last year:

Steve Perryman
"As for Rose Gibbs, he's vital in the greater scheme of things. He should have some healthy competition although that in turn could hamper Fryer's development."

Gibbs131
"How is Rose vital? We have had the best ever start to the prem without him for the most part."

Steve Perryman
"Do i really have to explain that to you? If so you're in dire need of a lobotomy. "

Gibbs131
"Please explain why Rose is essential. I am all ears. I suspect he is essential ONLY to your want for entertainment and not so much results because he isnt a very good defender and he's not the smartest player in the final third. He's made around 40 prem appearances and he is lucky to rub 2 assists or goals together. More flash that makes us soft Spurs. If you are addicted to cricket scores, then Rose is essential."

Steve Perryman
"If you were as clued up as you think you are you'd realise just how good an engine Rose has. I say if but you clearly aren't. This kid was club player of the year at Sunderland last season, yet you've just dismissed him off hand. If you took your head out of your arse for a moment & took a good look around you, you might just see what was staring you right in the face."

So if we are talking about who would have done what/when, Rose would never have been anywhere near my team in any shape or form. Neither would Naughton or Fryers to be honest. (takes of CM hat)

I think thats harsh on Naughton, I have seen him make good passes and crosses, he's not an awful footballer. He lacks pace but his biggest weakness is he is prone to silly errors which at top level get punished.

Walker is a big step up though and I feel far more confident with him at right back than Naughton.

I'll never be soft on players that help St Totteringhams day. Walker is a beast but I don't blame Rose, Naughton and all of the other wingy dings that derp around. I blame Ramos, Arry, AVB and Sherwood for more recently not spotting soft Spurs incarnate and compounding it by adding Siggys, Holby, Defoe etc to the mix which = cricket scores. They (wingrz) should all be on loan IMO with a view to being sold. Holtby and Siggy are perfect backup for AMs for us. Buy more English talent with the money...whatever...Just make sure they have a footballing brain and physical gifts. We should cash in on Livermore to a tidy sum at the end of the season, and in a perfect world that should be happening with the loanees from last year that fucked our season.

I would take Prichard, Mason, Holtby back and send the others in the opposite direction...Anything!! haha. Just get the stupid out of my club!

rant over.

I don't know why...But every time I see him play I think Jedinak could be converted to a fantastic full back. Probably because he spends so much time back there in the parked bus for Palace.

I only hope, least of all for the National side and being able to boast a large quota of HG first teamers, that a manager & backroom who can actually coach beyond "Go out there and do whatever it is you can do" will do good things with our team.

I think there's a lot of potential in Rose, Fryers and Naughton - strange how they get singled out for errors and everyone ignores the fact that all of our defenders have given goals away and made stupid mistakes all season.

Naughton's first real season of getting to prove himself with a long run in the first team, in a tactically handicapped defence, playing alongside a different team every week, with the whole team making stupid mistakes in front of an unforgiving crowd - you can forgive him a couple of stray passes, especially if all the more experienced players get a free pass (Chiriches, Vertonghen, Kaboul to name just 3).

The one thing Tim got right is that Kyle Naughton's attitude is spot on. When he makes mistakes, he bounces back and doesn't let them get him down, put in a hard shift and you never hear of him acting like other footballers.

It's not like anyone else has not acknowledged Jan's etc mistakes is it? There was an all out assassination of him and Kaboul.

With you on top of the pileon saying Jan will never be a top CB.
