They think we are Man City. I never boo however pissed off I am because I think it is counterproductive.
Booing should only happen when you need rid of the manager else it hinders that manager unnecessarily. Like when we needed rid of Nuno, everyone knew it seemed except Enic. It annoys me that fans are booing under Conte at this stage. He is right to tell the fans to be patient/realistic.

Edit: also occasionally acceptable to show a particular performance is unacceptable. But it should be an exception. Booing routinely is just toxic.

Players need to know when fans aren't satisfied they're trying hard enough.

We have pretty much been toxic for at least a year now.
Even if the club has gone nose blind, it's still a fetid swamp.
Ok instead of the booing, I wouldn't clap them off at half time. Let the seats empty out by 80 minutes, shouting "Levy Out" while we walk. So the players don't have to hear it.

Booing should be for when you are absolutely terrible. We'd just come off the back of a good run of games in the league barring Chelsea away and a good performance against Brighton in the FA Cup. The Southampton game was the first league game since the last minute winner against Leicester. You should be supporting the team, not booing at half time when the score is 1-1 ffs.
Here's my fag packet theory on the booing. As a wise poster recalled recently we have always had booing. Gerry Francis, George Graham, Jack Santini, Nuno, Jose, Conte. Its not new. The common denominator is not losing games with our fans its ALWAYS the style of football.

I recall some shitty late 90's sides that where chronic. Sides that would make Doherty Emerson Tanganga Sanches feel very comfortable indeed. But without exception what happen in front of those players (Calderwood, Austin, Cundy Vega)was FOOTBALL. progressive front foot possession based pass and move - even kick and rush- football.

Even when we asked the barers of light to be:Rule Fox , Moussa Saibb, and José Domiguez that's what they did. We kept it, played it short, made triangles and scored goals. Even when we finished 8th, 14th, 7th.

D.N.A is a fancy short hand for the way we like to see us lose or win. It's been belittled by everyone from George Graham to Roy Keane to Villas Boas but we know what we mean we talk about our team in the way we know what's in our hearts when we say Yid (even if others do not).

I've said I'll give Conte a chance, as I did Jose but he like all perspective Spurs coaches needs to know....you can't kid the fans they don't mind losing but they do mind, you sticking eight deffenders behind Kane and Son to lose to Woolwich. This will not be tolerated know matter who you are.

Not at half time and not at every misplaced pass. The booing needs to stop. I used to be fine with it after a game but it just makes us look like entitled unknowledgeable fans. The players don't need to hear the booing to know we are pissed off. All it will probably do in the end is drive Conte away, you can tell he is pissed off with it but doesn't want to upset the fans by saying so, so he says we need to show patience instead. He had it against Leeds at half time and he had it in the last two matches.

Need to increase the prices in there (edit: or make another season ticket section in another stand cheaper). Far too many people are there because it is the cheapest stand and they want a nice day out. Put the prices up and the people who really want to be there and get behind the team will find a way to afford it.

I'm lost for another way. It's shit. I had a go in the south east lower yesterday and it was much better. Less moaning and a few more singing. I'm usually in 257 and it is utterly terrible. Will move next season to somewhere where people actually want to get behind the side. Although fuck knows where that is!
I can’t believe your serious about increasing prices - your are joking? If so, apologies, if not, you’re mad! The reason the atmosphere is shit sometimes, or there are boos, is because the cost to watch Spurs is fucking ridiculous, pricing out the young working class who would bring the passion. We’ve all got used to it somewhat but if you stop and think for a second..,,£70, SEVENTY QUID to stand and watch my team. Crazy.

I meant make another area cheaper so the people go there, hence the edit.

I remember singing ‘we want our Tottenham back’ in the nineties. Can’t remember too much decent football. I think today’s boos are a reflection of the gap between expectation and performance; we got used to winning and CL football surprisingly quickly and want it again. Also, the amount of basic errors we make is so frustrating - makes people angry.

Little confused so you agree with me? The point was in the periods when we had discontentment and booing or songs about getting our team back the football was chronic as I said. I think many of us who go to games can cope with losing but not without actually attempting to play front foot soccer. Errors are a bellwether of confidence so are often tied to form. I think the game going fans are worn down with Jose Nuno and now Conte playing hugely reactive football. It's a real problem now.

I don't agree. They get paid a lot of money that comes almost exclusively from our pockets and they don't do the minimum. They can't control a football. They don't chase back. They can't make a simple, short pass. They certainly can't seem to do more hollywood passing.
They need to know it's not good enough and they need to do better.
I don't like people shaking their fists (wanker signs) etc. But we pay a lot of money and put a lot of effort to go to these games. If they want us cheering and signing their names, they need to do better.
Support should not be unwavering. It should be earned.

I'm afraid to say, this is the nail on the head as far as atmosphere goes. It matters not what the likes of me, Nutter-Naylor Nutter-Naylor , WookieD WookieD etc. etc. think we add to the atmosphere. What it needs is hundreds of like minded young people to be able to stand together. Without it, the "South Stand White Wall of Noise" is never going to happen. And with £70 a pop tickets it's a non-starter. We would need an 18-25 price equivalent to that of a childs ticket in price for there to be any chance of it happening. And for the majority of the South Lower to be open (or maybe even exclusive to) that demographic. As we are all aware, football at the top level has changed.

It's not coming back.

I can't see a way to get the crowd noise and atmosphere that that stadium deserves.

There will be thousands of unsold ST’s this summer. Market forces will mean Levy has to reconsider pricing I’m certain of that

It's not the same for everyone, but I'd have been my loudest in my 20's but could never afford to go back then.
Now I'm in my 40's and money isn't an issue, I'm less inclined to be loud.

You’re right, it’s been like this for ages and it sucks. Thing is if not Conte then who is going to fix this? He knows who to get rid of, who to replace, who to buy in. We have to give him time to do it. Else it becomes an impossible job for any manager. Maybe it already is.

I’m with you but let’s see what happens with safe standing. That could be the thing that brings the prices back in line.

I mean, I shaking my head at my own words as I write this, we’re talking Levynonics here, but you never know.

Exactly, and a throng of youngsters all togther would increase the chance of that loudness/rowdiness etc.
They are also the ones who bring the new songs. Another result of the ageing customer base if you ask me. Has there ever been a time when new song output has been so poor?

100% this. We still add our bit but I don't want to stand the whole game these days (so don't buy safe standing tickets on purpose). I used to pretty much join in with every song all game but don't do that anymore (I'm at 50-60% these days). Voice can't take it.

Watch any old highlight videos of the 1970s, 80s and even into the 90s and you can hear the difference on the sound of the crowd due to the younger demographic.

I for one would welcome a 16-25 or even 16-30 age bracket for tickets but they shouldn't be able to get WiFi in their area, keep them off their fucking phoned.

The stand is actually too big to get new songs going. Our repertoire used to be decent but it is appalling now. You have to go to away matches to hear anything other than the 4-5 usual chants.

I can't see why it will have an effect on pricing. The only thing that will is demand.

Also as someone pointed out upthread, the safe standing area has been a standing area the whole time the stadium has been open. Hasn't helped the situation yet.
