Match Tottenham Hotspur v Ajax, Champions League Semi-Final, Tue 30th April

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

I don’t agree that Foyth has got this
He’s promising going forward but he’s an accident waiting to happen when someone runs at him especially in the box

Yeah, we've certainly seen that a few times - but he does seem to be getting better at that. What impresses me most is that he's able to carry the ball forward rather than trying to pass all the time. In the last few matches he's played, there have been occasions where he's looked around, seen his angles cut-off so dribbled the ball forward into a better position (and pulled in opponents towards him). That's great composure and reminds me a bit of some of the best defensive/central midfielders of the last couple of decades.

because you'd do serious long-term damage to your best player and most valuable asset?

If we lose next week, he has two months rest. If we get through, the final isn't until 1 June.

CL semi - why not take the risk?

I'd be sorely tempted. It is supposed to have worked with Winks and Kane's already had a month off. Next Wednesday we could do with Kane and Son instead of Llorente and Lucas.

60 minutes?

We should play him at DM. I think that's where he will end up.

Take the risk. He/we may never be in a CL semi again. Which, despite our pitiful performance in the first 30 minutes, we're still in the tie.

We can win this with Kane and Son up front.

An ankle injury is a bit different to what Winks had. Pain in the hip/groin can be managed with an injection, you can't just inject something that will repair a ligament. If Kane's ankle is not yet strong enough to strike the ball with power or control it properly, a painkilling injection isn't going to change that.

Get Kane off the treatment table, stick a needle in his ankle and ask him for 60 minutes next Wednesday.

Same goes for Sissoko. Even Lamela!

What have they/we to lose?

Are you serious?

We could lose those players for good playing them when they’re injured

We tend to rush players back too early as it is

Dele still isn’t 100% and it’s clear to see

wtf did this guy smoke? he makes it sound like Ajax overran Spurs for 6 hours in a single game with tiki-taka 2.0 space football.

Donny van de Beek presses pause before delivering telling blow for Ajax | Barney Ronay

I am such an arrogant prick that I cant help feeling dissatisfied with a 0-1 CL semi final away game against Spurs. Like we should have decided it all right there and then. At the beginning of this season I was worried about games against Standard Luik and AEK Athens

As a Spurs fan I would be worriesd about the lack of fire power in the front. When we lost the ball against Benfica, Bayern, Juve, Real you had that instant fear of splitting pass followed by a killer goal but I didnt have that feeling at all last night. Sure you pressed and pushed but it wasnt dangerous. Like we would have against a mid tier Eredivise when we are 1-0 ahead with 20min to go...

Next Wednesday will be a month since the Delph incident.

Last game of the season for him.

Apparently Winks had a pain killing injection before the City first leg. Why not Kane for next week?

Is there any new information after the press conference where Poch laughed when the journalist asked about Kane and he then turned to Jesus Perez who emphatically said No Chance whatsoever?

Is it just hope or do people actually believe he might play a part?

I can't see it myself

Agree... I think the only way we'll have the remotest chance of seeing Kane play again this season, is if we make the CL Final...

.....and that's a big 'if'!

Yeah I’m seeing hope but no evidence, I tell you one thing though.

If Kane is on that bench next Wednesday, and son is starting. We are going through I am 100% sure.

I still believe even if he isn’t fit enough for the bench but if he some how is in that squad, the lift it will give us will see us through.

I haven’t gone through and read everything of what people have said, but I have seen a lot of people smashing Poch for not starting Sissoko and for the formation. It was plainly obvious that we played better with a back 4 and with Moussa on the field, yes... but I’d imagine Poch would be more than aware of that.

Sissoko is just back from injury and likely didn’t have 90 minutes in him. I think Poch played the line up he did in an attempt to defend with 3 at the back (essentially 5 with the wing backs dropping into full back positions) for as long as possible and to bring Sissoko on to run at legs that weren’t entirely fresh. It unfortunately didn’t work... but I think that the reversion to back 4 and introduction of Sissoko was always going to happen - Poch wasn’t blind to it and forced by the injury to Jan, it was more that is just hastened what would have occured anyway. If we could have held a 0-0 until half time, or maybe even 60 mins, Sissoko could have been even more effective (he was my MoTM in any case).

This idea that Poch is clueless is a bit fucking rich... we are in the CL semi with a threadbare squad. He is the reason this club is where it is right now. You’d be a stupid, ignorant, dim-witted fuck-monkey to suggest otherwise.

The circumstances were less than ideal, with no first or second choice striker, neither preferred CM available (to start in Sissokos case) and with an injury to one of our best CBs. 0-1 isn’t the worst. I think we know how to play them now also. I’m not giving up hope yet.

Anyway, that’s my two. And I hope you can make sense of them.

COYS
The reverting to a back 4 happened before Jan got injured, he'd already been moved to Lb with rose pushed into midfield, Poch got it badly wrong in those first 20ish minutes and we got off lightly only conceding 1 goal.

different injuries have different treatments, just because you can have injections with one does not mean yuo can for another. If it isnt pain that is stopping him playing through the injury an injection wont help anyway.
