If we were playing the way you wanted to, winning 1-0, missing one on one chances to kill the game, and Aurier jumped up and batted the ball with his hand in the 94th minute gave away a penalty and it was 1-1.

Would you blame:
Tactics?
Missed chances?
Aurier?

Now take Aurier out of the equation, and we are playing the way you want us to, but Kane misses an empty goal, and it finishes 1-1 instead of 2-1.
Do you blame tactics or Kane or some random defender?

Swap Kane for Sissoko missing and empty goal. Who do you blame?

Now I’m willing to bet your answers are Aurier
Random defender
Sissoko

But none will be tactics because “you liked the football”
Yet play a way you don’t like and all three of the above would be tactical fault.

Think about how stupid that is.
If Sissoko didn’t point like an idiot inside the box we would have won UCL.
If Huth didn’t score on WHL to give Leicester the win we would have won the league.

:akabusi:

I hope he comes back here and buys back some of the shit he signed for us.
Aurier Sanchez Moura and Sissoko we do for starters.
You can only buy the sweets you can afford, with the money that daddy gives you to spend. I see you're not moaning about N'Dombele....
Last night wasn't Poch's fault.
Last night was down to the "lack of ambition" mindset driven into the team.
I do not understand why the goal Kane scored wasn't the springboard for an intense period of pressure to get a second or third goal. The collective mindset of any football team after conceding the first goal is at a low and exactly the time to try to capitalise on it and drive it further down, not to let them settle and regain confidence.
The lassez faire "what we have we hold" attitude has word disaster written all the way through it, did they learn nothing from the west ham, newcastle & wolves games?

This is a guy you told us will bring results, you have to concede recent results haven’t been good enough and a large proportion of blame lays with Jose?
He’s a guilty as he his responsible for our position.
He’s made mistakes, so have the team, and it’s the players that have cost us.

This isn’t a mentality or motivational thing, it’s Son being Son....the poor version.

The other day I said it was like playing with ten men when Kane is “like this”......a few minutes later he scores a penalty and ten minutes after that he sets up Son.

HAAAAHHAAAAA SAMMY HAAAAAAAHHAAAAAA WHAT WAS THAT???
KANE AND SON ARE IMMENSE!!!!!!!

And out come the stats.

How come the tactics are stifling them.......but only sometimes. Missing chances can’t be tactical if we created those chances.

I am still fucking Fuming.

It doesn't help that there's nothing else going on and we're all locked down. means apart from working all I'll do is stew on this result.

Possibly......if Kane didn’t miss a simple tap in instead of rifling it against the bar we’d have beaten Leicester too.

If Poch learned to iron out the same mistakes after 5.5 years, we’d have won something too.

If Poch didn’t play an injured striker we might have won the CL too. If he had t lost the dressing room. Said he was leaving.

If he had dropped Dele and Eriksen instead of giving them messiah complexes. Which you agreed with LOL......

All of the above is legitimate. Some mistakes were tactical too, but far from the whole story.

I take it I nailed your thought process by your reluctance to actually answer by the way...

Sons header offside was borderline on field call corner was given had it gone to var anything can happen.
they’re all chances opportunities to score against a team in 17th.
I can’t even remember the last time dier scored from a freekick, we have bale on the bench who is a free kick specialist, he took one from 30 yards out keeper parried and there was a tap in. That freekick today would have been perfect for bales left foot.
hojbjerg should have smashed it he was open instead of a pass to the keeper.

their keeper did make good saves I think he has the 3rd or 4th best save percentage in the league.
second half we played much more poorly whatever mourinho keeps saying at half time isn’t working.

there’s lots of opportunities that they are not maximising, they need better quality players. Simple as that

The first half the keeper was up to it, maybe we deserved another goal but ok it didn't come. 2nd half we were non existent as we always are in these kinds of games. We should continue that way but jose wont let us

Overall a draw was a fair result and if anyone could have won it, it was them. Yet another manager outdoes Jose on the tactical front. Our style of play to sit back and counter has been found out, the likes of Fulham aren't worried about having majority possession as they know what we will try to do if we win the ball. We stop playing football and hoof it long or look for that eye of the needle ball to son which we did once. I can handle losing or drawing if we try and win (eg newcastle) but palace, wolves, fulham when we have the lead and just ALLOW the game to slip beyond us is just unacceptable. Blame individual players but the tactics do not show any intent to want to score another goal and we have no answer when the equaliser goes in. On this game we had a good 20 minutes to find another yet jose still keeps sissoko and winks on!!! Sissoko should go to the middle if we want to avoid their counter, get bale on as we surely bought him for some fucking reason. Maybe also add vini if kane wants to sit deeper. Make the subs to show intention to win the game not to hold onto the lead or hold on for the draw. We are nowhere near title challenges despite it being only 6 points off. This will happen again and again.

IF we are going to win titles, we are doing it the Spurs way! Not by playing this anti-football shit!

We have so many good offensive players that it´s beyond me why we don´t play to our strenghts, it´s fuckin criminal

And fuck Levy for hiring this anti-football cunt
Playing in the 'spurs way' and not ever winning anything isnt that attractive either. Not that I disagree with anyone about Jose fucking it up with the over defensive approach.

There was simple and obvious sub to be made at halftime. Take Winks off put Lucas or Berg on and shift Sissoko to the middle. But Jose waits waits waits and then makes terrible subs like taking Ndombele off.

Yep.

Mourinho is too technical. He analyses it too much and so we approach every game as though it's a chess match.

He ain't going to change at this stage of his career.

When his method works as it did for that long unbeaten run then okay but it is too narrow.

Ask not what they can do to us but consider and use what we can do to them.

Can you imagine Bale and Alli being left on the Fulham bench if they were available options??

That’s a fair analogy.
Tactics might be drab, but the simple fact is, missing chances costs games.

The tactics are not stopping us from scoring goals. If Son scores, is it tactics were good all of a sudden?
Or luck?
Or, is it just that the players did what they should have done, under the system they created those chances in..
Its impossible to score from all the chances you create. Son and Kane are way ahead of most attackers from other teams in their chances->goals conversion.

Now if they can score however many they do score from the chances that we are creating, what would happen if we played to create twice as many chances. Thats where everyones problem is with Mourinho's overly defensive approach. We have 2 of the best attackers in the league , so why not set up in a way to make as many chances for them as possible?

It always amazes me why we don't try this more often....
I know it's easier said than done, but Other (title winning) teams seem to deploy this tactic... mainly because they can... but also 'cos it knocks the stuffing out of the opposition to not only concede, but then to concede AGAIN so quickly afterwards.

ArseAnal (when they were genuinely any good) always seemed to score goals in quick succession, and it really does have an impact.
We simply allow teams back in at 1-0, rather than killing them off with rapid fire goals!

Then again, we DID manage to do it once this season, against West Ham.... and look how THAT turned out!
Damned if we do.... fucked if we don't!

You can't rely on 2 players for the whole season no matter how good they are there will always be off days where they haven't got their shooting boots on. It's an 11 man team and we need others that are capable of contributing with goals and assists on a fairly regular basis. This also gives other teams something to think about as right now nullify kane and son so that they only manage 1 goal and you are pretty much guaranteed some kind of result.

Win the League?

We’re pissing away top four here.
I'm not going to spit my dummy out just yet, I think the team is work in progress the link between midfield and attack is clearly not right.
I think we are in need of a few in and outs during the summer then next year will give us a better understanding of where we are.

I think all that ultimately matters to us is that we win games. The manner and the means are matters of person lpreference but if we win most of us go away quite happy.

It's a matter of who we are blaming for what has been a poor return since the second half against Palace? Up to then we had a swagger and confidence. Then wallop.

I don't know but it screams to me mentality as much as anything else. Suddenly the belief we had built up has evaporated.

If the fans feel it so must the players, despite the physical lack of attendance and because so many of the players have been here so long, the impact is clear.

Same here mate. Still well pissed off. Working from home, kids at home, nowhere really to go, etc, really doesn't help.

Had to just apologise to the kids for snapping at them. Another great point. Sissoko at RW - fuck me.
